New Year's Eve at Crown Perth

Obviously so darn backlogged for this, I was invited to an exclusive poolside party at Crown Metropol to ring in 2014. It is already past halfway mark by now. Oops.

Before the party, we had some bites at La Vie which were great and I always loved visiting this bar.

mayyn meal - El Publico

A quick photo post of my visit to the popular El Publico in Highgate. Quick summary from my experience: Overpriced and food isn't really that great. Overhyped in my opinion. Perhaps only worth a quick cocktail visit! Be sure to check out @mayybites on instagram for the full review and more up to date food visits of mine!

mayyn meal - Dapper Jack Coffee

Hi all, I have been missing yet again but my instagram page is very active! Remember to follow me on @mayybites for all my food reviews and foodporn ;)

Here's some photos of my visit to Dapper Jack Coffee/the newly renovated Studio Bomba

Coffee worth the find and visit! I scored it on my ig page @mayybites so check that out please. If only blogger has a more user friendly mobile phone app; I just cant seem to work their app for now.

Make sure if you are in the area to drop by for a coffee. Not much food, just cakes and some sandwiches.

mayyn meal - Matilda Bay Restaurant

When the family came to visit for a short period between Christmas and New Year's, we spent our dinners out at fancier restaurants to celebrate. We like good food! Anyway, I finally got to try out Matilda Bay Restaurant this time round so yay!

Great location as we all know it...

The interior is not what I expected but I like it.

Very busy so make sure you book in advance... Service was still pretty good despite the crowd.

Prawns to start were nicely seasoned.

Crispy squid was delicious.

Oysters 3-ways. I am no oysters fan but these were fresh and the flavours were uniquely good.

Very good crispy pork belly. I would return just for that.

Duck was the perfect portion for a lady and perfectly pink.

Lamb cutlets were also of a good standard and cooked medium-rare.

Lemon meringue pie was average.

Overall, we loved our food and felt the price was justifiable. Dessert is a letdown with not much selection either. Given how it is the end to any meal, perhaps they should step it up?
