Someone Like You

I heard
That you’re settled down
That you
Found a girl
And your
Married now

I heard
That your dreams came true
I guess she gave you things
I didn’t give to you

Oh friend
Why you so shy
Ain’t like you to hold back
Or hide from the light

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn’t stay away I couldn’t fight it
I hoped you’d see my face and be reminded
That for me
It isn’t over

Nevermind
I’ll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best
For you too
Don’t forget me
I beg
I’ll remember you still
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead

Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead
Yeah

You know how the time flies
Only yesterday
It was the time of our lives
We were born and bred
In a summer haze
Bound by the surprise
Of our glory days

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn’t stay away I couldn’t fight it
I hoped you’d see my face and be reminded
That for me
It isn’t over

Nevermind
I’ll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best
For you too
Don’t forget me
I beg
I’ll remember you still
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead

Nothing compares
No worries or cares
Regrets and mistakes
And memories made
Who would have known
How bittersweet
This would taste

Nevermind
I’ll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best
For you too
Don’t forget me
I beg
I’ll remember you still
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead

Nevermind
I’ll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best
For you too
Don’t forget me
I beg
I’ll remember you still
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead

Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead

Prints Eight

Mayy's Closet #36 featured the harem cargo pants and I wore a blue Roxy top in one of the photos. So here is the print on it. I have had this Roxy tee for nearly six years and I still love it! Am not leaving my collection just yet.

The powder baby blue complements its soft material of slight stretchy cotton kind. I also like that it has a small print of similar design on the side of its right sleeve. A pretty little heart in the middle of it all...

ZHA MAN TOU! I love it. It is my favourite thing whenever we go out for seafood dinner in Singapore. Not the chilli crabs and black pepper crabs. It is this dish of little fried buns. Dipped with the chilli gravy or without.

Sighs, sis had to send me the above two photos to tell me I am missing out. The heart is breaking. I do want to go back home but I know at the same time, I cannot live without Perth (sort of, might be because I have my car here).

Mayy's Closet #46

Gloomy gloomy day again, but I saw a rainbow on the way to the gym. Sure gives a wee bit of hope. Anyway, here's something colourful yet subdued if I can be ironic about it.

A babydoll top from Supre Osborne Park. I really cannot remember how much I got it for...either AUD2.50 or AUD5. Yes, they really do have some great sales going on!

Paired it with my electric blue skinny jeans from H&M I got in Hong Kong. At least I think it was the H&M in Hong Kong. I love the colour because it is striking and something different from black or denim. Yet, it is not crazily bright like neon pink or red or something. Still manageable eh? It breaks up the monotony of life and inject some colours. Although I frequently pair it with a black base top...

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com
I really like the paint splatter/paint brush prints. It just really come together really nicely. The orange and yellow and green and blue and white brush strokes. An eclectic mix and with the blue skinny jeans, it is a pretty artsy rock sort of look no? I mean with eyeliner and heels and a good tailored blazer with strong shoulders!

So tell me, how would YOU wear this top? Send me your ideas and the best one will win this top! I mean you don't expect me to just buy one of this top when it is at that price and looks this good!

This photo reminded me of two cars I came across on the freeway over this weekend. The car plate numbers were 1D--000 and 1B--000. How cute, having 000 as your number. Just like the lorry above which I saw years ago in Singapore. I would like that! Would you? Sure beats 888 anytime.

Mayy's Closet #45

Yes, I am SO BORED. While I may finally be sleeping right again after weeks, I feel this sense of loss. Like what now?! Nothing to do, sighs. Alright, being with clothes and shoes make me happy. And a backlog awaits for this blog.

On a random Friday morning getting ready for uni, I chose the black cropped top with white lace panel sides, my Esprit brown pants and Shoestopper #33. It was comfortable and I still felt like a rockstar. No I didnt amp this look up and left the eyeliner untouched.

In the toilet after class.
I got the cropped top from Bangkok Chatuchak (I think). I really have no idea actually why I got it in the first place. Not that I don't like it but I think I can live without it. So I am looking to giving this away. To anyone who wants it. Friends, just email me or give me a shout out on fb or twitter. It is comfortable and I like that it is the right length to wear it just as a top and still look like you are not overdoing it.
Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com
Alternatively, wear it with a highwaisted skirt or highwaisted shorts or pants. The lace side panels are a little see through but its not like you are walking around with your arms lifted right!? I mean, I dont but it doesnt mean you cannot.

So yeah, sometimes impulse buying really gets you. Especially when you are on holidays. It is like you get home and say, do I really need this?! Or when did I get this?! Goodness...if only we are think clearly when shopping. I am glad that Shiyu has been my shopping companion these past few days. She has stopped me from oversplurging. Not that I would have minded, but I needed someone to say LOOK, you already have something similar in your closet or just hang on and dont buy it on impulse. Sighs.

Shoestopper #34

Now, the shoes featured in the recent closet post: my one and only Onitsuka Tigers.

Sis was really into the Onitsuka Tigers a few years back before I came to Perth. She has about three pairs and I bought my first pair along with her first. She dragged Mum and Dad to Red Star in Paragon and finally got hers. Me being the annoying elder sister I am, I had to have one too. So I told Daddy that he said he would get me something for fetching him water that afternoon. And he could get me that. HA HA HA. Funny he actually said yes. So I chose this brown pair. Because of the lace overlay design and I thought it was easy to match and unique too.

Because this pair has history to it, I thought I would post about it here. After all, some shoes are bought not only for aesthetic beauty, but also for its history and uniqueness and of limited editions. Its iconic sneaker is Mexico 66 with the trademark stripes now known to ASIC. Onitsuka comes in limited pieces in each design and each size. They are like collector's items. I got this flats design, as it is more feminine and I don't really wear normal sneakers as much. The brand also frequently team up with various designers to come out with different collections. I am sure many remember the Toki Doki collection! Super adorable. Sis has the one far right in the top photo below. And Li Jia has the same one plus another sneaker one, middle of the second photo.

So yeah, pretty popular eh. I know boys who love the tigers range and to me, they always look very stylish in an atheletic sort of way. When I see a cute guy, his shoes are just as important to me. If I see a good looking pair of shoes before I notice the face, it helps too. HA HA HA. First impressions do count alright?! HA HA HA.

Apart from them looking good, they offer the comfort soles only sports shoes do. I love my Onitsuka so much I hardly wear them. Oh alright, I really must bring her out for a spin soon. Perhaps in the next few days when the rain stops and the sun comes out to play.

For those of you who have your own Tigers, how much do you like them? For those of you who havent, go down to your nearest store and have a look! Or jump online and google it and ogle at it. ;)

A shop in Claremont Quarters. Okay, I am attracted to pink neon lights. SO WHAT.

M's Food Find #46

I did mention I was going to blog about Saturday's dinner. So here we go. We finally went down to this Chinese restaurant in a nearby suburb that we have been hearing rave reviews for. It is just not too glamourous a place and we sometimes forgot about it. Nevertheless, we finally made our reservations and headed down. BIG BIG TIP HERE: ALWAYS MAKE A RESERVATION BEFOREHAND, AND MAKE IT A WEEK BEFORE! Especially if you want to do weekends. I cannot stress this enough and it is worth it.

Eureka Chinese Restaurant
14 Eureka Rd, Wilson 6107
(08) 9258 8860

We ordered the dried chilli king prawns which was really quite spicy. And I love my spicy food. However, we all around the table agreed that it ends on a really spicy note. But the fried spring onions (brown stuff) is really yummy! I would love to take that all home and just eat it with rice.

Sizzling japanese tofu on hot plate with salted fish and chicken mince. Complete with egg omelette at the bottom. Closest version I can find so far, compared to Singapore.

Stir-fried string beans with seafood. I like the beans, very sweet and crunchy. The fish and squid are all hits at the table too.

But the star of the night was...

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com
ROASTED DUCK! Not crummy at all. Juicy, fatty and YUMMY. I don't know how big a size Anna and Li Jia ordered since Shiyu, Nurun and I were late. But well, the photo shows you that it was HUGE. The skin was pretty crisp and the meat tender. I cannot rave about it enough. But it has a lot of fats under the skin and if you are weary of it, I reckon live a little and work out more. Food are meant to be enjoyed!!!

So yes, with rice and tea, it all amounted to over AUD100 for five of us. Abit too pricey but once in awhile, you need some good home style food from somewhere nearby (if you live near uni) and this place is it. A very small restaurant with pretty attentive service and good food with good company.

Mayy's Closet #44

Oh happiness, I have submitted all assignments as of Saturday. Had a dinner which I will blog about shortly and then went out with my girlfriends. Unfortunately, it was not the best night out but whatevs, just waiting on the two girls to finish their exams before we can actually start chilling.

Anyway, I am BORED out of my brains so far. Let's blog about something bright and funky then. Just to chase the blues and dreary gloomy mood which mirrored the weather.

Obviously the pink leggings popped here.

Rightey-o, I took this like a couple years back. I still have those clothes don't get me wrong but well, I guess it belonged more in Japan or Taiwan or Hong Kong, this look. The pink leggings are from Cotton On, a Harbourtown buy at AUD10 or 5. White denim shorts which I am certain I blogged about before. The shirt that reads: Daddy's Little Expensive Girl, was a bday gift from sis. I have one in silver (above) and one in gold which I am keeping in Singapore. I love it, the words are too cute. The long cardigan is actually from Cotton On Men's but really I don't care because it was perfect for what I was looking for. Another Harbourtown buy at AUD10. A steal! And the colourful Roxy trucker cap which now belongs to sis.

And the leggings and cardigan again, paired with a basic v-neck white tee with pink and blue words from Cotton On Men's again at AUD2. Yes, you read right, 2 bucks. After all, mens tee are big enough to cover the front and back of the lower half of the body. I mean if you wear leggings, camel toes are just NOT attractive and no one wants to see saggy bottoms. It is just like a RULE to not wear leggings as pants but somehow, some girls are not heeding this advice. Oh wells, to each her own.

A close up of the pink...
A recent outfit with the leggings. Just a very chill day, an off day (Thursdays this sem). I still had to go down to uni so I thought, what the heck. Dad's GA sweater which is now mine *cue evil laughter* And my SF Men's bag. Okay, so I got a slight obsession with Men's stuff but some are really NICE and I like to think I can pull it off. THINK.

And then, I met Shiyu for late night shopping and tried this pretty things on...

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com
Shiyu also tried it on. Pretty little things no?! YES! We didnt get it because it costs AUD139 and is not THAT comfortable. But they look great and apparently sold out in Carousel a week later because well, we cannot find it anymore. For those of you who wants these, best you go find the shops in the city or something! Be quick!

Mayy's Closet #43

A closet post to mark my day of shopping-ish. It was the first day in a long while I took some time off and watch a little tv and veg out abit. I did my chores and took my time. Ellen DeGeneres is always so funny. Loves her! Anyway, met up with Shiyu and Nurun again for Thursday shopping and to cheer the girl up after a lousy morning for her.

Anyway, let's focus on the Supre cutout tee I got during the online spree I did a while back.

HA HA HA, forgot to switch the timer on...Right.

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com

I paired it with black skinny jeans and Rubi wedges from Shoestopper #23. A bright coloured Hawaiian inspired print. The material is light and comfortable for a summer day. I really like the cut-out design too, it brings a twist to an otherwise normal boring printed top.

You can tuck it in like above, or tuck it out for loose-fitting look with leggings for a day time shopping trip, or shorts for a beach day out. Put on a straw trilby hat and its Aussie summer personified!

Wellwell, lookg forward to posting more on clothes because it is the holidays soon and I will be going out more (I hope)!

M's Food Find #45

Another Friday, another new place to head to for lunch with Jeanette and the boys. This time, after reading online reviews and having went to do take-aways there with Marcus before, I requested to go to Good One Restaurant in Vic Park. It is a Chinese place selling mainly roast duck, roast pork (siew yok) and barbecued pork (char siew). Reviews raved about the roast duck and I know Marcus liked their siew yok.

Nevertheless, a good sit-in will cure my doubts and hopefully yours too. It was lunch time when we headed down and the place was PACKED. to the brim. No kidding. So many people in such a tiny place. The smell wafting through was good enough to make me excited...

I was a pig, major. And ordered the plate above: combination rice with siew yok and roasted duck. I am so happy I got the drumstick part too. Yums.

Jeremy and Steven ordered just the siewyok rice, Jeanette ordered the roast duck noodles and Sam 'ordered' the green veg.

They smell good and look good. Unfortunately, I cannot bring myself to say they taste yummy too. Because well, they aren't too well done. The siew yok was abit tougher than I thought and I don't like how the crispy skin sticks to my teeth. The plate of veggies we got was also not good because it was presented in such a slipshod manner. Bleagh, so not appetising. So please order anything else besides the veg with oyster sauce. There were barely any oyster sauce.

The roast duck was alright but nothing to be wow about. However, the table next to ours ordered the sweet sour pork, some kind of noodles and other dishes which look really appetising. I wonder if it is because of the crowd. Oh wells. Maybe one day I will give it another chance and go back again. Meantime, I will be off on another search for better siew yok in Perth!

Mayy loves Cupcakes!

I thought I would blog my love for cupcakes and how it extends to even special occasions. A Cinderella-themed birthday cupcake tier for the princess of the day!

Let the photos speak for themselves!

The Precious Moments musical box which inspired the delicious treats...

Cinderella-blue butterflies

It does sort of look like a pretty icing edible garden eh? Love the handmade tier.

Happy party goers enjoying the treats by CakeFuntasie (www.cakefuntasie.com). The vanilla cupcakes and icing were so good and the baker girls were lovely. It was a pleasure working with them and look at their finished product!

M's Makeup Case

I haven't been sleeping well for the past four nights now and am constantly living with a throbbing migraine. Worse thing is I have to also finish all the assignments which contribute to the headache. Well then, here's to light at the end of the tunnel come lunchtime on Saturday, 28th May!

Because I look like death each morning these days, I can only imagine how others would feel staring at me. I don't want them to have seen a ghost so early in the morning so it is my duty to actually put in some effort eh?

I bought this on the recommendation from my favourite Sasa SA in Plaza Singapura. I really have not much use for it but it is there in my makeup box for emergencies such as this. It is called Secret Potion: Illuminating Skin Fluid from Red Earth. Works sort of like foundation I guess but it is very light and you only ever need a dab for the whole face. I am such a makeup noob and I can't tell you anything much else. LOL.

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com

Revlon blusher was bought earlier this year when I did my makeup under Revlon for the ball. The SA recommended a brown blusher for me but I really wanted something pink because I now the times when I actually use it will be emergencies again. This light pink is so light and almost neutral. However, that is what I want. Just slightly bring a touch of colour to an otherwise pale face.

Well, I am still hoping for good sleep one of these nights soon. I resent using makeup on a daily frequent basis, just not my belief. Hahaha and I can be lazy...

Till my next makeup case, Mayy xo

Shoestopper #33

I am on a roll so let's keep going. Back to shoes for now! This is a pair that I currently wear almost every other day and am rather upset because it isn't in the best condition for now...

Nevertheless, here is a photo of it when it was brand spanking new:

Yups, white stiletto pumps from Schu (www.chocolateschubar.com). I have a couple of pairs from Schu and they never fail to amaze me with their comfort and good looks and amazing quality. I am NOT kidding, if you don't already have a pair in your closet and you live in a country with Schu, GO GET YOURSELF A PAIR OR TWO NOW. NOW. and you can thank me later!

Calming down now...I bought this a couple of years back with Xin Hui out on a shopping trip in Wisma Atria Singapore. It was December I remembered and sale period and I was late in meeting someone too. Nevertheless, shoes are always a good excuse to be late! I say so anyway. These gorgeous babies cost me only SGD18 after discount. Would you just look at the classic chic cut of the front? The gorgeous sexy curves of the heel? Sighs...

I made the mistake of leaving them in my Singapore shoe cabinet outside of the house and not wearing them for a couple of years after I bought them. It is not because I don't like them and don't want to wear them. it is because I love it too much. However, I finally brought it to Perth with me and found out that the leather is peeling... I refused to throw it out and am still wearing it. It has become my rain or shine pair I guess. The soles are so comfortable and I constantly wear them for 12-hours/day in uni. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW I CAN SALVAGE IT? Re-leather it like you can re-upholster your sofa? Sighs.

The heels are insanely steady and the grip on the soles are so good. Trust me, I wore them in pouring rain just two days ago (aka Friday which is the published day of this post but I am only completing this on Sunday today). So please! leave a comment if you actually know how I can salvage this good quality pair of shoes. Thank you!

M's Food Find #44

It is Sunday today, what are you up to? I hope alot more than I am.

Taking a wee break from the ice cave which is my room, I drove down in the warm sunshine to uni to see my supervisor. Yes, I have no life. For now. Anyway, I am on a break now so let's blog!

Bak Kwa in Perth is like a rare treasure, a rare ruby in a barren land. So when we heard from one of our supervisors that there is this shop selling it, we just had to go down for a looksee and buy us some barbecued pork slices.

The unassuming shop in Langford Village, Goodies Galore. It looks a bit dodgy with a big wall hiding the back kitchen and only a counter at the side. Lady boss was not in a good mood or is she just sour face all the time? Anyway, they only sell the bak kwa at a minimum weight of 500g, nad it costs AUD39/kg. Yes it is VERY expensive comparing to Bee Chang Hiang and all the other bak kwa shops in Singapore. BUT, they know it is a rare commodity and can afford to sell at such prices. Jeremy bought a kilogram worth. Steven and I shared 500g between us which is about 8 to 9 big square slices.

There are two flavours - original and chilli. I haven't got round to eating my chilli ones but the original ones were a little too tough for me. But it is still bak kwa, microwave it or put it in a toaster for a bit to soften it up. Yummy! Too bad they don't have the bacon strips kind like they do in Bee Cheng Hiang, those are my ultimate guitly pleasure!

So if you are homesick or craving for some home goodies, satisfy it by heading down there. It is bound to make you smile for abit and eat away happily. Drink lots of water though!

Now as I have blogged about it before in M's Food Find #27, we had lunch at Kanta which is jsut round the corner from the Bak Kwa place. Literally seconds away. So a quick photoblog on our lunch...

Sushi Don with fresh salmon sashimi and roe. It is such a healthy lunch so I can eat my bak kwa in less guilt. I am trying to justify to myself here alright? Cut me some slack. Hahaha. It is fresh and the salmon sashimi is pretty sweet. Still not the best I had, but it will have to do in Perth for now.

Steven's salmon in special sauce. A creamy sauce, quite like a pasta kind of sauce...

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com

Jeremy's sushi lunch. The way the chef made the unagi sushi was so cute! He used a box to really square it up. There you go, you can have lunch at one of the nicer Japanese place and then buy bak kwa for afternoon tea. HA HA HA. But if you are heading to Kanta for dinner, be sure to make a reservation. Don't say I didn't warn you.
