it kinda explains why today's shoestopper post is on a pair of very comfortable flats.
Monochromatic cuteness! I am not usually a big fan of ribbons and bows, but when done well (like a Tiffany's wrapped box) I would have to succumb to that cuteness. Like this pair of jelly flats I saw at Peter Alexander.
Twinkle toes indeed. I drew the line at getting the hot pink with red bow combination. This casual chic pair borrowed some kind of edginess from the black white colour combination and really pops even with an all-black outfit!
Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com
What I really liked is that while I havent worn this pair of shoes out anywhere, its plastic jelly quality is cut well and soft...and definitely weather friendly! Even though it looks very very flat, the cut forms to my feet well enough and really kinda like havaianas for me.
what do you think? too cute?

I bought this pair of leather block wedges from Wittner's last year. I completely love the nude classic colour and the simple wood grained design.
The round toe front makes my feet looks daintier and tinier. I dont have big feet but its just so sweet and ladylike to have seemingly cute slim feet no?
Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com
Now why is this pair so special to me? Well, I got it during the great summer sale so it really was such a good buy for great quality that Wittner's are known for. But the real reason was I finally wore it this year for my graduation ceremony. The ceremony was held on the grass, so stiletto heels really wasnt going to make it easy for me. And I love to be in heels so this pair was it. It was insanely high, and just makes it easier to walk on grass as well. However what I didn't count on was the stiff back. I ended up with bloody ankle blisters which were pretty bad but nothing could mar my night! I walked with intense pain the whole night and blood. But everyone still remarked to me how I managed to walk in such high heels all night and look as though I am wearing flats. Well, my feet has always been arched and feels right at home with heels.
No pain No gain? right?
My weakness. What's yours?

So shoes! That always cheer me up...
The colours are so easy to match and they are my first pair of shoes from Zu, the premier shoe brand under the Betts family. I absolutely adore them even if one may argue the similarity between it and my Aldo ones. Well, tough. I have this already and I LOVE IT. Its different and a whole lot lighter.
Pretty special!

I saw them in the shop weeks before but couldn't really bring myself to buying them because well, I went and bought another one! Alas, fate and destiny combines and the stars align to make her mine. Wittner's named her Galaxy and so she remains that.
Wittner's is a higher-end brand here in Australia and the quality speaks for itself. That being said, their designs are pretty cute too. But the pricetags are abit hefty, its a once-in-awhile treat! But I was lucky enough to grab this at a bargain! They were having an 80% sale for four days only on the shoes already on sale. So from about $140 to $99, I finally bought her for about $35. HOW MUCH HAPPIER CAN I GET?!
It jazzes up and adds an unique edge to any casual outfit instantly. I was just walking into uni that day when a woman came up to me and tapped me on the shoulders. She said she just wanted a closer look at my shoes because they look great. She loves the chip in the wedge just like me. So proud of Galaxy! Literally shoe-stopping!
Comfortable and goodlooking. A tad heavy but I can deal with it ;)

Starlettos!
That's where one of my favourite shoe accessory comes in! Called Starlettos, the pretty little rubber flower thing helps prevent ladies from having to walk tippy-toes all the time and the risk of tripping over (never a good look...).
Not only that, this little thing helps prevents heels from tearing a long gown or dress! I have had such experiences and wished I knew about this sooner! So I thought I would share.
Starlettos have been so popular and just growing in demand, so much so they were included in the nominee giftbags for the 63rd emmy awards! Its going international this flower.
Photos credits: www.starlettos.com.auThey now come in red, black and clear glitter in addition to their first original clear one. I reckon a normal clear one is best because it goes with anything! Now this little post is purely my own opinion and not in any connection or advertising for them.
I just love the idea so much and think they are absolutely great! Read more or shop online at www.starlettos.com.au
How great are they? ;) Thank me later!

I used to keep it clean obsessively to match my tennis team outfit back then. But after, I just needed something to go with me to the gym.
I love the vintage cut of the sneakers and the colour combination. It was during the same period where adidas had their pink/white combi and my junior college team coincidentally picked out the outfit. I had the clothes, shoes, headbands, tennis grips to match. I am such a bimbo. Bright pink. Who loves Barbie now? ;)And I bought pink shoelaces to lace this pair up too! Custom. While I love it, this pair hardly slims the feet. Kinda chunky but provides the support a tennis player need adequately.
Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.comWished I could restore it to its original new state! Nearly glowing dont you think?

Prints Eleven
SO TRUE! And I do own this in my collection. I havent got round to wearing it yet though. I like the heels image and the caption. I consider this a souvenir too because I bought it in Cebu, Philippines. And from one of my favourite childhood brands, Terranova.

The past forty nine pairs were very varied and I believe there may even be a pattern as to my buying shoes criteria. Although, I would prefer me to be more unpredictable. Because predictability can be such a snoozefest.
Hence, instead of celebrating the fiftieh featured pair with sky high heels, I decided to go with something casual and fun and very practical. Also, of very special importance to me.
Here she is, a beautiful child. I am so proud of her, and she is one of those I havent got round to wearing. And its been three years. My mother bought it for me as a gift before I moved to Perth for my undergraduate education. We both wanted something practical and I was really looking for a studious look. An all American college ensemble, in my head.
Obviously I got here and preferred dressing up my way. And I was always weary of getting her dirty. I mean I dont want to ruin the shine! I also like the skinny fit and really makes a girl's feet look as dainty as it could.
The Classic Adidas Okapi range. The colours are definitely my favourites and it is no secret why I chose to buy this. Perhaps in due course I will find a special occasion to don her for the first time and bring her out into the world with me. Hear Europe calling? Or maybe a trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida?

Enough about my sleeping, or lack thereof, issues. Shoes lift my mood up and just explaining some accounting issues using shoes and brands as illustrations help me feel better too! While I am tottering my Monday away on a pair of heels, I wished I had this pair with me right now...
This cute preppy green/gold/white checkered pattern ballet style flats really takes the cake for a clean-cut look. I didn't wear it often till this year and had to unfortunately retired it a couple of months ago... If I ever do see it again, I would get it one more time!
The material used here is a thick cloth with the insoles made of the same material. While it may seem coarse to the finger touch but they are actually quite comfortable. The only bad point is that you gotta somehow wear socks with these, as the material isn't too good for sweaty feet! Eeuch, smell.
I was also quite afraid of getting it dirty since it is white but it remained white as no matter how many times I wore it! Amazing.
So how do you like this pattern? Too difficult to match or too cute for words?

Rubi flats are really made for the walking. I have had so many colours and designs in this particular style! They go so easily with most outfits, very easy to slip on and off when you are in a rush. They look good most of the time and definitely don't make you look sloppy. Even when you want to look sloppy. Dainty and feminine with the rounded toe.
No surprises on why I bought this copper bronze metal colour. It is actually because of the blue interior! One of my favourite colours, it is irresistable. Too bad I wear it out already due to frequent wearing. Sighs and the fact that it got wet from heavy rain. Sure they don't last too long but they are also cheap! Makes you feel alot less guilty for buying many of them at a go or on different days ;)

Anyway, point of this post is not what I did today, its on a rather quirky pair of shoes I owned. Past tense, because it had to be retired earlier this year...
It was the last pair in my size, I consider it a sign and when I tried them on, it reaffirms my belief that I had to have it. Thank goodness they were affordable ;)
Cloth shoes are just so so comfortable and its soles are actually made out of pretty solid material and while it is very flat, it is not uncomfortable. It is so pretty and dainty to put on. Haven't seen anything else quite like it ever since.
I was super upset to let it go but the sides were already coming loose and tearing so to speak. They sure don't last very long...
Well pretty shoes, I hope I meet your twin one day soon and I will buy me some more. Thank you for gracing my life. I miss you very much.

I purchased at full price.
Look at that shiny black patent leather and steady stiletto heels. The insoles are delightfully cushiony and the peeptoe fronts hardly give me blisters. While my only grouse is that the shoe front is squarey rather than pointed, I love the whole look of it. Very corporate sexy and Rihanna-esque, in my opinion. I wore it to my college diploma graduation as a seemingly fitting gesture.
And when I say steady, I do mean steady. I can run in these, faster than friends in flats. Maybe they just aren't feeling that in the rush... Oh wells. Point is, this pair is a quality pair of shoes and so well worth the money I paid for it.

This is the pair of stilettos I was wearing in the previous Closet post. My dressy sandals/heels for events and dinner occasions in Perth. I got them at Betts last year at one of their fabulous sales for only AUD27. It is A STEAL. One of my best bargains since they are super comfortable (cushiony soles!) and steady to walk around the whole night in. And of course, dancing post party. The straps also do NOT cut into my feet and the slingbacks hold well. No slipping off! I just love a good solid pair of heels.
I only really have one pair of dress heels in each of the countries I live in (or maybe two). First of all, I am super picky when it comes to these things. Second, I want a good investment and third, something that goes with alot of outfits. There are quite a bit more criteria but shoes find you. You don't find them. So when you come across one that really speaks to you, and you don't have an occasion for it (YET, because you can always create one), please don't let it go. NEVER. Even if you overspent your monthly budget or something. Whatevs, money can always be earned. But you will NEVER find another pair like it again. NEVER.
Have you had any shoes that you regretted letting go? Or just have this specific style you really want but there just isn't ANY like it? Don't lose hope though! Perhaps the right one is just round the corner. It took me more than a year or two to find this pair here. And when you finally get it right (and at a discount no less), it is worth everything.

Mayy has a shopping regret #4
Reminiscient of the one and only, and my favourite Chanel peony, Forever New has this pair of ankle boots, or booties as I like to call them. I have tried so many in the shops at Garden City, Carousel and Harbourtown. There are two colours - tan and black. Let's recap on my heartbreak. I tried on size 8 but they are too big for me. Black just isn't as nice and I really have quite enough black footwear. Not only I don't have any tan footwear, I also really liked this one! HMPF. Size 7 fits me just right but I have yet to find a tan one, only in black. So I tried size 6 in the photo and yes... they fit but I am afraid they will hurt after a while since my toes are all the way at the front. I asked for size 7 at the latest try in Harbourtown, and when she said there were 2 pairs showing up on the system, I was near joy. HOWEVER, when she finally unearthed them from the big boxes, there were only 3 shoes. One side was missing, and the ONLY left side was faulty with the flower detached. OH FOR GOODNESS SAKE.
So I left the place empty-handed yet again. Okay, not completely empty handed, just without the boots. I got pants and a blouse and a fifties-style skirt and an awesome pantsuit which needs some altering. I did NOT get them all at one go alright, they were from separate occasions. I may have a shopaholism addiction...

Yes the fur-trimmed suede boots I raved about in my previous closet post. These boots are made for walking I tell you. Sure, I bought like a size too big BUT I can live with it since you wear thick socks around in winter. One of the first pairs of shoes Mum and Dad got me here in Perth at Westfield Carousel, the shop is Williams the Shoemen and they were having a slight discount on this. And they knew I had to have another pair of boots since it was winter when we first arrived. Yay.
While they are a little more high-maintenance and need some taking care of (i.. NO rain), I would say suede boots are SO worth the investment because they are first of all GORGEOUS, and also functional since they keep your feet real warm! The furtrim just makes it look cute. These are a wee bit flat if you are walking for hours in it. But perhaps nothing a really good insole can't solve!
How much are you wishing you had a pair of these too now eh? ;) (Unless you live in Singapore and want to wear it in the dead of humidity, then that is JUST SILLY and so UNCOOL.)

Sis was really into the Onitsuka Tigers a few years back before I came to Perth. She has about three pairs and I bought my first pair along with her first. She dragged Mum and Dad to Red Star in Paragon and finally got hers. Me being the annoying elder sister I am, I had to have one too. So I told Daddy that he said he would get me something for fetching him water that afternoon. And he could get me that. HA HA HA. Funny he actually said yes. So I chose this brown pair. Because of the lace overlay design and I thought it was easy to match and unique too.Because this pair has history to it, I thought I would post about it here. After all, some shoes are bought not only for aesthetic beauty, but also for its history and uniqueness and of limited editions. Its iconic sneaker is Mexico 66 with the trademark stripes now known to ASIC. Onitsuka comes in limited pieces in each design and each size. They are like collector's items. I got this flats design, as it is more feminine and I don't really wear normal sneakers as much. The brand also frequently team up with various designers to come out with different collections. I am sure many remember the Toki Doki collection! Super adorable. Sis has the one far right in the top photo below. And Li Jia has the same one plus another sneaker one, middle of the second photo.
Photo credits: tokidoki.blogspot.comSo yeah, pretty popular eh. I know boys who love the tigers range and to me, they always look very stylish in an atheletic sort of way. When I see a cute guy, his shoes are just as important to me. If I see a good looking pair of shoes before I notice the face, it helps too. HA HA HA. First impressions do count alright?! HA HA HA.
Apart from them looking good, they offer the comfort soles only sports shoes do. I love my Onitsuka so much I hardly wear them. Oh alright, I really must bring her out for a spin soon. Perhaps in the next few days when the rain stops and the sun comes out to play.
For those of you who have your own Tigers, how much do you like them? For those of you who havent, go down to your nearest store and have a look! Or jump online and google it and ogle at it. ;)

M's Food Find #41
Ended up at the Generous Squire pub at the other end of Shafto Lane. Rather near the Burger Bistro. We were asked for ID and stamped. Goodness me. I thought I was dressed very maturely. It is a compliment I guess. Hahaha! I wore the Bardot dress in Mayy's Closet #1 and Shoestopper #1. Felt invincible with the bangs and eyeliner. Allow me some narcissism here.
Anyway on to the food, we eventually decided to stay on at the Squire for dinner. We were all having drinks and catching nicely anyway. With a food menu spread out in front of us, we didnt really need to break the good vibes up. After all, pub grub in Perth is actually good! So I didn't feel like I was being shortchanged or anything. And the Squire is such a nice business people vibe place. Pretty nice and sophisticated. I like it.
I ordered a special not on the regular menu: the tasting plate. Yes, that amazing looking spread there was all for me alone. And it only costs me AUD20. I thought it was so well worth it and just simply, really awesome. For lack of a better word. Oh and so generous too.
There were 2 big arborio rice balls which were very nicely done. The rice was nicely cooked through and held together. The flavours were just nice and sort of felt like egg fried rice/risotto. The salt and pepper calamari rings are quite the STARS on the plate. Very lightly battered and you can still actually see the calamari rings. Sweetness there with a hint of salt. So good. You have to try it to believe it. The vegetable frittata is quite measly and abit too mushy for my liking. But I will not complain further. I had 2 rather big battered fish instead of one because I don't eat beef and I traded in the beef skewers for it. The fish size was like any ordinary fish and chips' fish. So it is such a bargain really at AUD20 for the amount of food and the quality.
Cannot wait till I can go back for it! Anyway, my companions also had dinner. Chiara and husband ordered a tasting plate to share. Yes yes, they shared and I had one to myself. Whatevs. Maddy had the pizza which was good I suppose since she finished it. Sam R. had the lamb rump which I initially wanted and it sure looks yummy. Huge portions though.
We finished up dinner leisurely and a lot of laughter in between. I finally bid goodbye at 9pm and walked back to my car alone. Past King Street and all the lovely shops. Along the cobbled stones walkway. Feeling like I am the only one in the world and oh so oooo-la-la pretty. Yes, I am just being honest. Took a few photos I thought I would share.
At Zomp. It is like playground for women. Wheeeee.
And more...spot the leopard prints one I wanted.

Past Linney's and saw this cute set! Awwww, look at the elaborate roses. Wow. I would like one of those please. LOL.
And I walked past Louis Vuitton and surprised they were open. And then I saw a sign saying it is a private function. Wow. Wish I could have snucked in. So pretentious, me. LOL. Alas. Only a lowly commoner. HAHAHA.
