Mayy's Closet #72

Not really in keeping with my shoes theme so far, but I was just in correspondence with my royal panda (inside joke) so I thought I would post a closet raid which always reminds me of him. We went to the business school ball a couple of years ago. Quite a bit of dramz because the dress I intended to wear had a broken zipper and luckily I had a spare balldress in my closet (pays to be a hoarder) and had to do a quick buy for my accessories before I went to get my makeup and hair done.

This pink floral silkscreen printed handkerchief dress is from Forever New and absolutely luxurious. I'm putting this up for sale at half its original price too. I am sort of glad I wore this dress because my royal panda got me a wrist corsage which is just beautiful. Matches perfect.

My hair was done at Valentino's in Carousel and makeup by Nora at Chanel.

A completely unglam shot but hey, thats me! Always up for a good laugh. Not at my slimmest and Mummy is very critical of this dress. Pfffft. I love it so tough luck, mama.

Mayy's Closet #58

After all that happy blogging on colours, here's a rather dark post. By dark, I mean black. By black, I mean an all-black outfit.

I have blogged about this Dotti tunic in Closet #50 and usually I just edit the previous post on the same item and update the content. I have decided to blog this outfit under a whole new number because of two items.

Firstly, it is the printed stockings I got from Forever New recently at a steal for AUD9.95. I am devastated that I decided NOT to be a hoarder and buy two when I had the chance. So I am stuck with the one and only.

Second item is the black and white checked fedora or trilby hat I got last year from Sportsgirl at yet another bargain, AUD9.95. It is unbelievable at that price because the hat is made out of the thick suede covered material with gold thread shot through. I love it and this is the first time I have worn it out.

The lighting isn't so good but what you can tell here is that the stockings actually looked like black knee high socks. But well, it isn't. I also really like the little hearts rimmed around the knee. It is something quirky and different from what I would usually wear. But hey, overall with a strong red lip, I am liking this outfit very much.

The whole look is not overly girly and slightly dark and edgy which I usually like to come off as. The stilettos here really complement the stockings, sort of a sexy schoolgirl look. But not overly cutesy. Barf Moving on, the muted gold understated glittery clutch is from Valleygirl at the best price ever, AUD4.95. I mean come on. It is a piece of accessory that looks like a million bucks but doesn't break the bank. It just makes your day better knowing you scored an amazing bargain.

Spoken like a true shopaholic, I should think.

Mayy has a shopping regret #4

For the past weeks of shopping once I was done with my first semester, I did get quite a bit of new items but also quite abit of heartbreaks when something I LOVELOVELOVE is unavailable in my size. Here is one of them... (I am still holding out hope though).

Reminiscient of the one and only, and my favourite Chanel peony, Forever New has this pair of ankle boots, or booties as I like to call them. I have tried so many in the shops at Garden City, Carousel and Harbourtown. There are two colours - tan and black. Let's recap on my heartbreak. I tried on size 8 but they are too big for me. Black just isn't as nice and I really have quite enough black footwear. Not only I don't have any tan footwear, I also really liked this one! HMPF. Size 7 fits me just right but I have yet to find a tan one, only in black. So I tried size 6 in the photo and yes... they fit but I am afraid they will hurt after a while since my toes are all the way at the front. I asked for size 7 at the latest try in Harbourtown, and when she said there were 2 pairs showing up on the system, I was near joy. HOWEVER, when she finally unearthed them from the big boxes, there were only 3 shoes. One side was missing, and the ONLY left side was faulty with the flower detached. OH FOR GOODNESS SAKE.

So I left the place empty-handed yet again. Okay, not completely empty handed, just without the boots. I got pants and a blouse and a fifties-style skirt and an awesome pantsuit which needs some altering. I did NOT get them all at one go alright, they were from separate occasions. I may have a shopaholism addiction...

Mayy's Closet #44

Oh happiness, I have submitted all assignments as of Saturday. Had a dinner which I will blog about shortly and then went out with my girlfriends. Unfortunately, it was not the best night out but whatevs, just waiting on the two girls to finish their exams before we can actually start chilling.

Anyway, I am BORED out of my brains so far. Let's blog about something bright and funky then. Just to chase the blues and dreary gloomy mood which mirrored the weather.

Obviously the pink leggings popped here.


Rightey-o, I took this like a couple years back. I still have those clothes don't get me wrong but well, I guess it belonged more in Japan or Taiwan or Hong Kong, this look. The pink leggings are from Cotton On, a Harbourtown buy at AUD10 or 5. White denim shorts which I am certain I blogged about before. The shirt that reads: Daddy's Little Expensive Girl, was a bday gift from sis. I have one in silver (above) and one in gold which I am keeping in Singapore. I love it, the words are too cute. The long cardigan is actually from Cotton On Men's but really I don't care because it was perfect for what I was looking for. Another Harbourtown buy at AUD10. A steal! And the colourful Roxy trucker cap which now belongs to sis.


And the leggings and cardigan again, paired with a basic v-neck white tee with pink and blue words from Cotton On Men's again at AUD2. Yes, you read right, 2 bucks. After all, mens tee are big enough to cover the front and back of the lower half of the body. I mean if you wear leggings, camel toes are just NOT attractive and no one wants to see saggy bottoms. It is just like a RULE to not wear leggings as pants but somehow, some girls are not heeding this advice. Oh wells, to each her own.

A recent outfit with the leggings. Just a very chill day, an off day (Thursdays this sem). I still had to go down to uni so I thought, what the heck. Dad's GA sweater which is now mine *cue evil laughter* And my SF Men's bag. Okay, so I got a slight obsession with Men's stuff but some are really NICE and I like to think I can pull it off. THINK.

And then, I met Shiyu for late night shopping and tried this pretty things on...

Shiyu also tried it on. Pretty little things no?! YES! We didnt get it because it costs AUD139 and is not THAT comfortable. But they look great and apparently sold out in Carousel a week later because well, we cannot find it anymore. For those of you who wants these, best you go find the shops in the city or something! Be quick!

Mayy's Closet #30

It was a friend's 21st birthday party last night at Gold Bar in Subiaco. I didn't want to wear something new or wear anything too nice because it is after all, the birthday girl's night. It is like a wedding, she has this glow about her and you just know That is the one everyone is here celebrating for. Anyway, I decided on this toga Supre dress Anna bought for me in Melbourne. I wore it once last December and got compliments from the door babe at Hush etc. Without further ado, here it is. I hardly recycle my clubbing outfits because well, I seemed to keep having new ones. Anyway, I really liked this one and have no qualms to wearing it again. The hot pink is right for my skin tone and the material does not stick to me too much like a second skin. The cutting was just right for a bodycon dress, making certain the cloth for bottom half of the body area is wider. I don't know if you can see it but there are 3 diagonal lines/slight tiers across the body which breaks the monotony. That's the back of the dress. Impossible to wear a bra so thank goodness for sticky tapes.

That is the look for the second time wearing it. Poufy hair, Forever New Shoestopper #3, hoop earrings, single white bangle, a mute pink bronze clutch. Light undereye and dark liner. First time round, I donned the same pair of shoes and piled my hair all to one side with a really long pair of earrings with smoky dark eyes.

Can't wait till next summer when I can take it out with me for more playtime!

Mayy's Closet #27

I am totally procrastinating again and suffering from inner combustion. Anyway, let's blog about time where I feel truly confident and happy and stress-free. I was wearing a dress from Forever New I got in Harbourtown. It costs me AUD19.95 (or was it AUD29.95? They were having a one-day special for the dress) and I even went ahead and bought the belt with it which costs almost the same amount. I got it for another friend in Singapore who loves it. It is her birthday today, and I gave it to her months ago. HAPPY BIRTHDAY XIN HUI and of course, APRIE too! The material is sheer but very very heavy. It gives me a very mature look, but I still like the sweet yet corporate edge. It is part of my personality. I like the draping and curves. The embellished neckline. The three quarters sleeves. You have to pin the front up because well, one should not show too much. I figured the dress will not look good with leaving my hair down. A low bun to up its classiness. I wore it to Burswood for a buffet. While it brought me stares, I thought it was not the best dress for a buffet if you know what I mean. Hahaha.

That's my favourite photo of the night. Not to be narcissistic or egoistical. After all, I grew up with so many insecurities. I still see myself as if I was 12. Let's not go there.

Anyhow, love the slight shimmer. Understated elegance.

I am sort of glad I managed to take a photo of this. Because I really wished I bought it. I love fans, the delicate look, the different materials used to create etc. With this tiny fan in a long necklace from Forever New, I can't believe I did not buy this when I saw it in Harbourtown. Now who gave me bad advice?! Hahaha. The floral pattern is so pretty and the pearl ends add this shine to it. Best part of this? The fan actually folds and unfolds!!!

Yes, you are allowed to call me a dumb-dumb today. Just for today!

Shoestopper #3

Since it's the holidays and I am actually quite bored out of my mind, I decided to get a few friends and head out partying on Wednesday and Saturday for the past week. Anna had bought me 2 really hot dresses from Supre in Melbourne. Their warehouse was apparently better than ours in Osborne Park. Nice, wish I was there. Anyway, both nights I wore the same heels out. So I thought I will blog about them. I have concurred that these are my comfiest shoes to go dancing in. I can last more than 5 hours partying hard in them! They look pretty darn good too. But it's not all plus points. A photo first before anything else...

I bought them on 19th June this year in Harbourtown's Forever New. Li Jia was the witness to this buy since she was my shopping companion for the day. I was searching the racks for my size and really pretty lucky to have found one at all. I got them at a steal at AUD 24.95! They are made of felt/suede so thats really soft and kind to the feet. I initially thought the bling was a little too much (yeah, I know since when is bling too much to me eh?!). But I tried it on and it looked hot. So as they say, the rest is history...

When I bought it, this other lady was looking for her size too and she took quite awhile to find hers since her feet is smaller than mine. Sizes for shoes here when they go on sale are the usual suspects, for the bigger feet. Anyway she was ecstatic she found hers and told me so when I was at the cashier. Girls and shoes are just well, its like whiskey and ginger ale to me! I wore it that very night too for dinner to the casino. And there's one thing you should know about me. I seldom wear new things when I just buy them or things I like alot. Some of my new clothes are still 'new' 2 years from purchase date! hahaha. It says alot when I wear so soon, I must really like it alot alot alot. Anyway, it is so coincidental too at the casino that night, I met the woman who found her size that arvo! She saw my shoes and we both laughingly shared a secret smile.

Back in Singapore this July for winter break, I went to Zara as usual. Such a surprise to see the exact same pair on the racks, with of course a different label! Goodness. They were selling for like SGD150 if I remembered correctly. EEKS. So I really appreciated this darling pair even more since then. We'll end with a couple of photos of the shoes being put into action the past week!

After wearing them out quite a few times now, my main concern when wearing them has always been my worry that the bling will drop out. It is my biggest fear and I can't enjoy myself properly when I wear them out to dance with the crowds! So I only wear them out for dinners and places I know they will be fine. Then I switch to flats for dancing. A little sad but I will do anything including wear flats just so my heels can all stay pristine and pretty.
