Mayy's Closet #58

After all that happy blogging on colours, here's a rather dark post. By dark, I mean black. By black, I mean an all-black outfit.

I have blogged about this Dotti tunic in Closet #50 and usually I just edit the previous post on the same item and update the content. I have decided to blog this outfit under a whole new number because of two items.

Firstly, it is the printed stockings I got from Forever New recently at a steal for AUD9.95. I am devastated that I decided NOT to be a hoarder and buy two when I had the chance. So I am stuck with the one and only.

Second item is the black and white checked fedora or trilby hat I got last year from Sportsgirl at yet another bargain, AUD9.95. It is unbelievable at that price because the hat is made out of the thick suede covered material with gold thread shot through. I love it and this is the first time I have worn it out.

The lighting isn't so good but what you can tell here is that the stockings actually looked like black knee high socks. But well, it isn't. I also really like the little hearts rimmed around the knee. It is something quirky and different from what I would usually wear. But hey, overall with a strong red lip, I am liking this outfit very much.

The whole look is not overly girly and slightly dark and edgy which I usually like to come off as. The stilettos here really complement the stockings, sort of a sexy schoolgirl look. But not overly cutesy. Barf Moving on, the muted gold understated glittery clutch is from Valleygirl at the best price ever, AUD4.95. I mean come on. It is a piece of accessory that looks like a million bucks but doesn't break the bank. It just makes your day better knowing you scored an amazing bargain.

Spoken like a true shopaholic, I should think.

Mayy's Closet #28

I really should be going to sleep but last post for today. A closet post. No not something I wore today although I am happy with today's. Moving along, it is an outfit I wore out to dinner with Charlene and Zhiwei last December at The Silver Spoon. Didn't think I would actually buy and then wear something like this out. But I did and I actually like it. It is my poofy skirt from Dotti, at AUD39.95 I think. Since it was still cold weather/cool breeze, a grey turtleneck from Dotti as well to keep me slightly warm. Nothing too loud for accesories too, given the drama of the skirt. The skirt is made out of nude coral pink ruffled waves, it is not chiffon though.

And I paired it with my Shoestopper #10 since the colour scheme here is really to keep it soft and girly. I would wear it again with a black scoop neck basic top and a different hairstyle. What do you suggest? French braid? I need help with that. Bunned up and chopstick it through? Hmmmm... it needs lighter pinker makeup I suppose. Nothing too edgy here. A wannabe ballerina. Swan Lake anyone?

So do you absolutely love it like I do or hate it because well, it is just too much?

Shoestopper #10

The 10th post for the shoe-stopping series! So I figured I would feature a pair of skyscrapers to sort of signify that the blog will stack up more posts in the following years.

My highest pair yet and the first time I wore them, out to dinner and club with friends here in Perth. The next day, they didn't turn out so well and I nearly cried. Had to do damage control with cleaning and spraying stain remover asap. I learnt never to wear white or light coloured shoes out to the clubs. Only when I want to chuck them out =D

STRUT! I say, STRUT!

I bought this pair in March/April 2010 at Sportsgirl Carousel. They were really expensive when I first set eyes on them (even when they are already on sale) and each day I checked back in to see if the price dropped. My persistence paid off! I got them at AUD69.95. Not the cheapest but they are made out of leather and the soles are really comfy. I would know. Because I wore them to Lady Gaga's concert....STANDING. Good soles, you can tell if you look close enough at the photos and see the arch where the label is.

(Darling shoes on the Gaga's floor, forming an M and fallen down...)

Truth be told, they are really high at 5 inches but there are the platforms. And I didn't last the whole of the concert. I couldn't stand it, pun not intended. I liked that they go with alot of outfits: jeans, dresses, denim skirts. The colour is called BONE. Hahaha. It is really sort of bone white colour. They are high maintenance though and the stilettos are kind skinny which means I have to stick to hard floors (no grass) and no drains.

Would I buy another pair like it again? Well, if they are Louboutins. Otherwise I am happy with this one and 5 inches demand that you need a car. They are really just shoes for dinner. Where you are ferried and only really walked to dinner and back... Like I said. High maintenance.

Till my next shoe-stopping experience, Mayy xo
