Ahhhh, now that I have started again. How can I not get to writing about shoes at all! I certainly did not yesterday but I shall make up for it today. With a pair that has a special memory.


I bought this pair of leather block wedges from Wittner's last year. I completely love the nude classic colour and the simple wood grained design.


The round toe front makes my feet looks daintier and tinier. I dont have big feet but its just so sweet and ladylike to have seemingly cute slim feet no?

Now why is this pair so special to me? Well, I got it during the great summer sale so it really was such a good buy for great quality that Wittner's are known for. But the real reason was I finally wore it this year for my graduation ceremony. The ceremony was held on the grass, so stiletto heels really wasnt going to make it easy for me. And I love to be in heels so this pair was it. It was insanely high, and just makes it easier to walk on grass as well. However what I didn't count on was the stiff back. I ended up with bloody ankle blisters which were pretty bad but nothing could mar my night! I walked with intense pain the whole night and blood. But everyone still remarked to me how I managed to walk in such high heels all night and look as though I am wearing flats. Well, my feet has always been arched and feels right at home with heels.

No pain No gain? right?

Shoestopper #56

Alright, let's get back to some form of familiar territory for the blog. I like to write but I just havent had time to sit down and do some. Usually its because Im busy supressing my emotions and thoughts and not allowing myself to feel much. Its safer that way, not vulnerable.

So shoes! That always cheer me up...

I saw this pair of vintage inspired wedges on a facebook page a few minutes after a girl uploaded her album. I left a comment right away and am so glad I got it.

They are pretty tall to say the least but what really surprised me when I got them was their weight! So light! Very easy on the feet but they are best to walk in if you know the places you go do not have cobblestones and such. A little like walking on stilts.

The colours are so easy to match and they are my first pair of shoes from Zu, the premier shoe brand under the Betts family. I absolutely adore them even if one may argue the similarity between it and my Aldo ones. Well, tough. I have this already and I LOVE IT. Its different and a whole lot lighter.

Pretty special!

Shoestopper #53

I have to blog about this because well, I have been wearing them ever since I bought them. Right from the point where I got them in the shop and I swapped my sandals that day for it until today.

I saw them in the shop weeks before but couldn't really bring myself to buying them because well, I went and bought another one! Alas, fate and destiny combines and the stars align to make her mine. Wittner's named her Galaxy and so she remains that.

Galaxy came in three colours and I chose the nude leather one (over the black suede and army-grey leather). What I really liked was the unique wedge design.

Very simple fair colours and a chip in the back. I would have to say it is not a lightweight pair of shoes. The wood is for real yo! But the leather is very good too. Butter soft and takes good care of my feet. I wear it day in day out, shopping and work. Says alot!

Wittner's is a higher-end brand here in Australia and the quality speaks for itself. That being said, their designs are pretty cute too. But the pricetags are abit hefty, its a once-in-awhile treat! But I was lucky enough to grab this at a bargain! They were having an 80% sale for four days only on the shoes already on sale. So from about $140 to $99, I finally bought her for about $35. HOW MUCH HAPPIER CAN I GET?!

It jazzes up and adds an unique edge to any casual outfit instantly. I was just walking into uni that day when a woman came up to me and tapped me on the shoulders. She said she just wanted a closer look at my shoes because they look great. She loves the chip in the wedge just like me. So proud of Galaxy! Literally shoe-stopping!

Comfortable and goodlooking. A tad heavy but I can deal with it ;)

More yummilicious and on-trend styles! This pair of lace-up orange wedges from Hot Options at Target are bound to make you the star wherever you go this spring!

I got them online via facebook but have decided to part with them. i.e. Selling them. Brand new from previous owner to me. They are really pretty but I just can't have any more shoes!

Orange! Neon bright colours and wedges are all over the style pages this spring eh? But I need to fund my other pair (s) of wedges that I got or plan to get hahaha. So since I have a similar kind in blue, I would give up this brand new one!

Real comfortable with cushion soles...

Enough with my face, let's blog about shoes! This is a pair I have been wearing for the past few weeks and go easily with quite a few of my clothes. That is probably because it is one of my favourite colours.

I bought this pair of wedges from Queen Victoria's Market in Melbourne 2 years ago on a short trip. First off, the colour caught my eyes. The tying straps were the second reason. The light weight third. Fourth, the price: below AUD20. I can't remember if it is AUD10 or AUD15.

Isn't it such a summer pair of shoes?! It is very very comfortable and has never caused me any blisters everytime I wore it. I was so sure with this pair that I even brought it with me (as the main pair) down to Magaret River, a trip with the committee last year. And I know if I wear it, I wouldn't be buying any new pair of shoes because it is quite a hassle retying it all.

You have got to tie it real tight to make sure it doesn't slip and you walk well in it. It goes great, in my opinion, with a white dress, or a blue/white combination, or a blue/white/brown combination. What else would you wear it with?

Hello there. How was your weekend? I hope your Monday blues had also come and pass you by, even better if you didn't catch any of it! I realized I havent done any shoe-stopping post in awhile so here's one for the day! That's my controversial Aldo wedges I got nearly a year ago in Singapore, ION Orchard. Can't believe it has been that long! I bought her for about SGD65 during the sales period. I thought it was a real snag! We all know how comfortable Aldo shoes are and that price is just a bargain for it. Why controversial, you may ask? Well, my mother hates it. But some of my friends, me included love it. Mum thinks it's the ugliest thing I can buy at SGD65 apparently. HAHA. For me, I like the metallic colour as it is really quite easy to match it with. With pants, short dresses in summer, maxi dresses in autumn, maxi skirts for a daytime jaunt.

Sure, the dark wood wedges may be a little hard to swallow at first. BUT, when you find out after a day of shopping on the first time you wear it, or spent 12 hours in uni with it, and YOU DONT GET NO BLISTERS, you fall in love with it over and over again. The wedges are unbelievably solid and stable. I must say they are not the lightest one around but I don't mind. The soles are also wonderfully comfortable with the slightest cushion to make you feel like you are NOT feeling those hard wood the wedges are made of.

I get this sense of invincibility whenever I put them on. Who does not love an extra boost of confidence on any day at all? So tell me, do you LOVE it or HATE it?

Mayy's Closet #15

I had been tottering around in wedges for the past couple of weeks and the choices of outfits were mainly more of the casual pants style. Although the weather had been insanely hot, the pants still did not cause me much perspiration thankfully. I can't be wearing my halters and dresses for my classes all the time, and especially not for my tutoring ones.

So here we go, the post features my Zara beige pants/jeans. It is smart casual, I guess. Jeans without coming across as casual. I think it is really because of the colour and the material.

For a casual look in summer, I always cuffed them to about 3/4 and pair with a black/grey top. Quite standard. But somehow, I still really like it. This black Roxy top has been with me for really quite a long time (6 years?) and I don't think I have worn it more than 10 times. Always in pristine condition, and I like the gold print on it.

This one is paired with another Zara item, the puffed sleeve top which is the first one I bought of the style. Leopard print-ish? What do you think? When I went shopping once with Annaand she met me when I was in the changing room already, I came out and showed her the top I was trying on. She went, I like the top but not the pants. Well babe, the pants are mine! Haha. I bought the pants because I wanted something practical and comfortable and not too casual when I started my internship. Depending on how you dressed it, it can look very formal. So there we go, a pair of practicality hangs in my wardrobe of many unpracticalities.

Enough with my face, let's blog about shoes! This is a pair that I wore for the first time on Tuesday and subsequently, Friday and Saturday. Quite a feat (no pun intended), I must say. Especially for a pair of 4 inches wedges.

I remembered in Oct/Nov 2010 when I was shopping in Carousel's Rubi and saw this pair under the New Arrivals section. I first noticed the one in black colour and thought it looked really really chunky and sort of striked it off. However, my friend was looking and trying out shoes I THINK and I thought let's put this on for fun! And I did...turned out I really liked how it looked on me and yeahh. I didn't end up buying it that day as I couldn't justify the pricetag and having one more pair for shoes. So in Dec 2010, I was back in Rubi at Carousel and saw that this particular design went on sale! For AUD10, I could totally justify it! I only had the problem on deciding which colour to buy: black, camel or this one.

The cutting is actually at size 38 a little big for my feet. Not the best fit I must admit. I think that is also sort of why I put off wearing it in the beginning for fear it will hurt. The faux suede really does make the pair of shoes look more expensive and less hookerish, in my opinion. The cork wedges also really characterizes summer well and just goes with dresses and shorts wonderfully! I even wore it with my maxidress for dinner last night! It doesn't quite hurt but I cannot walk too well in it. I have put insoles in them which does help the problem. I was also initially afraid that it will look very chunky and ugly, but that did not translate into a reality when I wear it. Sure the wedges are abit thicker and so high, but it really is as dainty as it could be. It does its best as you can tell in the photos in my Closet posts.

Not a purchase I am regretting at all, but I do wish Australia carried size 37 for it for a better fit. My fats don't go to my feet, they head straight to the hips, thighs and bums. So no worries about my feet looking ugly but a slight problem for finding shoes that fit exactly well. OH ALRIGHT, not THAT big a problem given my shoe collection.

Thinking I only had to go into uni today for 2 meetings, I decided to wear my Betts black wedges. I sure did not plan to go into the city and then to Carousel for a big walk about. Those shoes are pretty and I bought them with the intention for shopping in them. Unforeseen circumstances forced me to reconsider unless I make some drastic changes. This shoe-stopping experience is one where I have to stop wearing them...

I bought them in August this year when I went down to Harbourtown with X, Anna and Li Jia. I told myself before this I was not to buy any pairs of shoes and most certainly not any wedges. Guess that did not really work out. I am weak haha. We went into Betts and X made me try them on insisting they are really nice. I agree with her on that, and I have gotten quite a few compliments on it too when I wore them out. I tried them on, they did make my feet look smaller and daintier...She was saying how I should absolutely buy them because they are just too pretty. SO at AUD29.95, it is a bargain. I did cave and hand over my well-worn EFTPOS card.

I reminded myself on my first day wearing them why I should never buy slingbacks again because the back always fall off when I start walking. And these were no different. Its back elastic bands slip off each time I lift my feet. It has become so annoying I have since walked in it like they were slip ons each time I wear them out. They are lightweight and go with just about anything. Because I wear them like slip-ons, the balls of my feet hurts really bad from the pressure and the straw soles. Today was the worst experience so far. ButI have worn them out for shopping at Harbourtown a couple of weeks back and I still managed! Oh dear. It really needs to be fixed. I Googled on how to stop slingbacks from slipping. The most popular solution was to wear insoles so your feet do not slip forward when you walk. I tried that, it did NOT work. I have since come up with 3 solutions. 1. I will have to go to a cobbler to cut some of the strap and sew it back. This means it will be tighter and will not slip. 2. Get the cobbler to cut off the back straps entirely and make this pair to be slip-ons. 3. Cut the back straps and use velcro! I am thinking the velcro idea is a pretty good one =) I can still have it as sandals and no chance of really having the elastic becoming loose. Which solution will you choose?
