Mayy's Closet #53

Still waiting for my Glee Season 2 Episode 18 so I decided to do another post! This time on cropped tops. I bought them pretty long ago but only got round to wearing them this year. I guess I love buying stuff but sort of lost the motivation to dress up for awhile there...

Whatever. I finally did so yay me! Cropped tops were the trends of last season but I believe if its something you really like and can rock no matter what, that is YOUR personal style. Never mind trends, just be yourself. AND unique. Surely, that is the biggest trend of all.

For me, I love oversized tops so, even when I bought cropped tops I managed to find a bigger size for myself and still don't look half bad if I say so myself. This Cotton On fireworks/galaxy printed cropped top is one of my favourites. Definitely one for keeps, quite unlike a few I bought then and looked back thinking well maybe it isn't THAT good of an idea you know?

I like the butterfly sleeves and the fact that it is long enough for me to wear jeans with.

And this black silky one is from Dotti with silver leaf imprints. A tad too big for me I must say but I know it is so comfortable. Which is why I bought it. Although, I really shouldn't have because unlike the first one, I can't see it sticking around long term. Which is why I put it up for sale on the facebook pages like Clothes for Sale - Perth etc. No one is really asking about it yet though... Hmmmmmm. Funny how they don't have flea markets here in Perth like they do in Singapore. The fun kind for youths.

So what do you say to cropped tops? Yay or nay?

Mayy's Closet #45

Yes, I am SO BORED. While I may finally be sleeping right again after weeks, I feel this sense of loss. Like what now?! Nothing to do, sighs. Alright, being with clothes and shoes make me happy. And a backlog awaits for this blog.

On a random Friday morning getting ready for uni, I chose the black cropped top with white lace panel sides, my Esprit brown pants and Shoestopper #33. It was comfortable and I still felt like a rockstar. No I didnt amp this look up and left the eyeliner untouched.

In the toilet after class.
I got the cropped top from Bangkok Chatuchak (I think). I really have no idea actually why I got it in the first place. Not that I don't like it but I think I can live without it. So I am looking to giving this away. To anyone who wants it. Friends, just email me or give me a shout out on fb or twitter. It is comfortable and I like that it is the right length to wear it just as a top and still look like you are not overdoing it.

Alternatively, wear it with a highwaisted skirt or highwaisted shorts or pants. The lace side panels are a little see through but its not like you are walking around with your arms lifted right!? I mean, I dont but it doesnt mean you cannot.

So yeah, sometimes impulse buying really gets you. Especially when you are on holidays. It is like you get home and say, do I really need this?! Or when did I get this?! Goodness...if only we are think clearly when shopping. I am glad that Shiyu has been my shopping companion these past few days. She has stopped me from oversplurging. Not that I would have minded, but I needed someone to say LOOK, you already have something similar in your closet or just hang on and dont buy it on impulse. Sighs.

Mayy's Closet #21

I have had such a lousy week's worth of quality sleep, or lack thereof. I resorted to wearing new clothes to perk me up a little. Does dressing up fun wake you up? It makes me feel better. But I have to crop my pale face out because the eyebags are horrendous. Nevertheless, here's the outfit I wore on Friday. And yes I refused to be bundled up in jackets. I know it's in the twenties now but I am still happy wearing summer clothes. I liked how this outfit looked sidewise, the drop hem of the top and how it visually lengthens the body. The coral pink ruffles complemented the grey-blue fitted skirt from Temt. I love the gradient and paint splash colours. It sure helps that it only costs me AUD4.95 too.

The three cute heart-shaped buttons on the Supre cropped top. I didn't quite know how I was going to wear this top when I bought it but I know I had to have it. At AUD2.50, I think I can afford buying it to stare at it even if I don't wear it. Good to know that I finally found a way to wear it out.

That's the front view of the outfit. Since the cropped top opens up in front, I had to wear a white basic tank as a base. I am not crazy about the front view but I guessed I could live with it because of...

The back view! and the side view. It is thankfully, not overly cutesy and the fitted skirt managed to give an edge to the outfit. I paired it with a pair of grey pointed flat pumps because well, I didn't think a pair of heels would be wise. It would have sort of an overkill, like trying too hard.

What do you think? Yay or nay? What would you pair the cropped top with? I am thinking jeans perhaps? Is it too revealing if I leave the basic tank out? Only if I have rock solid abs. HAHA.
