mayyn meal - Ootong + Lincoln

Been dying to check out this place and finally had the chance to do so on a super gorgeous Sunday.

The drive was worth it and to be greeted by this mural definitely brightens up my day =)

A very big cafe and the eclectic mix of decor is breathtaking but yet uniquely Perth.

looks good huh?

Even has a quick coffee corner if thats all you wanted.

My favourite corner

Even she's fascinated...

Coffee was quite good and done well.

The food - pancakes were quite fluffy and yummy. I love how it feels organic and healthy and still yummy.

Potato cake was quite good. The whole thing felt healthy.

I think I was more taken in with the decor than the food to be honest.

However, I would return because I like the simplicity and healthiness of the food options.

mayyn meal - Zensaki Sushi & Izakaya on Barrack Street

Met a girlfriend for dinner on a Friday night and had made reservations beforehand. Lucky we did, because it was quite crowded!

Complimentary salad.

Teriyaki Chicken Soba noodle which were quite alright.

I had quite a few sushi to satisfy my hunger.

The pumpkin crown was too sweet for me.

The prawn cheese burger was quite interesting.

The katsuoboshi roll was okay too., i wish the bonito flakes were crispier.

The garlic prawn and salmon roll had so much potential but it fell flat...

All the sushi combinations sound amazing but unfortunately did not leave up to expectations as the sushi rice were too mushy or the ingredients just didnt taste fresh or lacklustre.

Will I return, Probably not. But the sushi train is a good idea if you need a quick bite in the city with not much else going on...

Maybe I will return and try the desserts?

mayyn meal - Yamato Kaiten Sushi in Claremont

A friend had been raving about her favourite laksa in Perth, so I had to go try it out right? Who knew it would be in a Japanese restaurant served with udon or ramen? Something different...

She ordered the Laksa Udon but changed the prawns to Chicken. It is definitely a better choice with Chicken.

The normal prawn Laksa Ramen for me. I felt the noodles were too soft for me, not very springy like how Ramen noodles should be. The prawns were not exactly fresh either.

The laksa gravy however definitely was good and would satisfy anybody with laksa craving. It has so much more potential than haphazardly thrown together with not so good ingredients like the noodles, prawns, broccoli etc.

Will I return? I doubt it. Even the sushi train looks unappealing.

mayyn meal - Tutti Frutti

Why am I even blogging about something so small?!

Well it was because I fell in love with the Peanut Butter Soy froyo flavour and had to tell everyone about it! I am a huge pb fan so this definitely is a healthier version over me digging a spoon into a jar of pb...

Not so impressed with Red Velvet flavour but loving the chocolate cake pieces I had with it. I was craving for cake but feeling like I need to make a healthy choice after a pizza dinner. So this definitely helped satisfy the craving and still make me feel slightly better!

Update: Visited the new outlet at Claremont the other day and had the Blueberry and Lychee flavours which were both delicious. Lychee is now my second favourite flavour for this summer ;)

mayyn meal - The Belasyse on Shafto Lane

It had been a crazy Friday and hazy Saturday...therefore, we are taking it slow on Sunday. A late lunch brought us into the city and since Perth doesn't have many places opened in the city for food at late 2pm, it was a gem to find The Belasyse open for service!

Loving the bright decor and the quirky touches put together with all the different furniture.

Loving that case and the fountain we get to sit out and eat around

Got served the addictive fried chickpeas on the house to start which I could NOT stop eating.

Jodie had the Reuben sandwich - corned beef. It was very good according to her!

Meanwhile,  I went for the pulled pork and slaw sandwich. I love the slaw, the bread was quite difficult to eat out of so I gave up and the pulled pork is okay but not my favourite one. I love the handcut chips and tomato salsa with it.

Overall an okay meal to take the edge of the previous night off. I am just really pleased to have something open in the city on Sunday and serves decent feed.

mayyn meal - Deca Bodega in Fremantle

A casual Monday late dinner turned out into something pretty wonderful! We ended up at Fremantle and decided to give this place a go: Deca just on the corner of the strip.

It can be considered quite busy for a Monday night and that is something to be said. I love the decor!

We ordered the Chorizo and Pear with Fresh Bread for starters. It was a nice mix of sweet and salty.

The braised leeks wrapped in Jamon was cooked well and the leeks were very fresh.

Decided to split a main of braised lamb rump in shallots and honey and potatoes.

The meat was falling off and tender. The potatoes were flavorful.

Definitely the right amount of food for two. Genuinely satisfied by the end of it and would definitely return soon for brekkie or just to try out more of their spanish influenced dishes!

Parting shot of friendly service and good food.
