Mayy's Closet #12

Hello, it is Monday! Are you part of the majority suffering from Monday blues every week? Well, I am usually looking forward to having something to do and going back to uni...though, it is abit much this semester. Anyhow, something to lift my spirits during my stats class right now...blogging. Photo credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com
It is going to 33/34 degrees today but this morning when I went out of the house, the wind was blowing hard and cold. Brrrrrrrrrr. Sure do wish it remained like that through the day and I would have to do a wardrobe switch soon! All the coats and leggings and boots. Fun.

BACK to the photo, yet another pair of denim shorts which I got very long ago and I vaguely recall that I MIGHT have gotten it from FOS in Malaysia? It is comfortable though and of a thinner denim material than the Dotti one. It is back in Singapore now and I take it along to me for holidays on cruise or to Bangkok. I really bought it more for the fact that it could fit me and not restrict my thighs. It was a comfort buy!

The top is something a little more different. It is from Roxy girls, so yeah the kids/teens section again. I really like the shade of green and how the white pops against it. The hem of the top is also something different and I liked the crisscross detail on the back of it. I can't post a photo of the back details up because I've lost it and also given this top away so I can't take another one. I paired it with a cropped white cardigan even though it was such a hot January back then. Somehow I could take the heat then. Weird. I've had this top for ages and only really worn it 3/4 times. It looked brand new still when I decided to give it up.

The straw trilby hat is from Billabong, City Beach in Harbourtown. My cousin Celest bought it for me when she was here during a work trip and we went out shopping. I remember wearing it on the day I took this photo and the hat blew off the top of my head when I was walking in uni. Oops and slightly embarassing. Funny though!

Today, Mayy...

Today started at 12 midnight right? So Mayy was at her first Phuture/Zouk on a wednesday night. Mambo was really funny to watch. Phuture was so packed there was no way to move properly on the dance floor. I could hardly breathe. Met DP who was there with his friends. I wanted to be home by 2am. Guess that didnt happen as it was a pretty fun night out that lasted till past 3. I could have gone on, if not for certain obligations. Either way, it makes me wonder. Do I prefer sticky floors or packed floors? Anyway, I tweeted my night away so if you follow me, you will have read my thought process. Till I found myself enjoying the night.

Slept till my body feels fine, I woke up and got ready to head out with Jojo again to watch Love and Other Drugs. Found a pretty white dress at this new shop, KISSJANE at citylink. Love and Other Drugs was a really good movie that touches on Parkinson's Disease and other emotional topics. Anne Hathaway portrayed that quite well and Jake Gyllenhaal was just good eye candy. HAHAHA. In short, I liked it. Walked around with Jo to this new linkway from Marina Square. Tried fries at Rock and Ash which wasn't that good. Even my university does better fries. And their egg bens major fail. Chocolate souffle looked good but flopped when we tasted sugar pieces. My advice is to ditch the idea all together if you want to try after looking at their photos.

I think I got abit used to being independent and scheduling my appointments to my fancy. But being back here, I can't do that. I got to take into account my sister's classes, my mother wants to take us there for convenience sake. So an argument erupted where I let slip the F word. When I get absolutely pissed, it does come out on a number of occasions. Hardly at home. But Mum went on about how it's a guys' word and if my husband heard me say it how BAD it would be. I wanted to shake her and say excuse me, what era are you living in. I understand that it is not at all an attractive word. I even chided G for saying it. Well, we'll chat about double standards some other time. So tell me, what do you think on this whole F debate?

Till the tissue papers, Mayy xo

M's Movie Choice #1: Bride Wars

Yesterday, Shiyu came over to my place for a chillout arvo together. We decided to just stay home, eat and watch movies. Pretty good idea to just laze around. Unfortunately it was a teeny bit hot so we took a break in between and drove to Coles for some snacks.

We watched two movies out of my collection: Bride Wars and Just My luck.

I really liked Bride Wars starring two of my favourite actresses, Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway. While this is not Hathaway's best acting, I still found the whole plot endearing. I never fail to cry when Emma's (Hathaway) dad visited Liv (Hudson) in the hotel room before the bridal march. Kate Hudson played her character very well. The whole domineering power woman, yet at the heart of it, she finds her soft side. And to see the contrasting differences between both couples. A girl sure hopes she can learn to see the signs of their relationship. Liv's husband (Steve Howey) was so sweet through the downs of it all. Awwwww. I also really liked Candice Bergen as Marion St. Claire. The narration was very very soothing and a nice respite from the girls' fighting.
I remember watching it with Anna first in the cinema when it came out in 2009. Then I bought last week, and watched it alone. I bawled my eyes out, especially when I had those doubts about reality. Third time, I still love it. I don't think it will reach the level of my obsession with The Devil Wears Prada...but 3 times and I'm still not sick of it. Suffice to say, it's one of my choices to watch, especially with girlfriends.

Highlight for me: The Vera Wang gown worn by Kate Hudson. I know without a doubt, thats the dress of my dreams. Classic, princess-like, I will still love it when I look back 40 years later...
