M's Food Find #69

Hello there, its been eons this blog has seen any activity. Just been so busy with my work that I dont get much sleep either. And there are nights I literally am awake doing work till evening the next day. Then I sleep well for about 12 hours. Hahaha.

Hope everyone has been well and eating lots of yummy food! Here's one food post just in time for dinner on Saturday. I hope you are having a better one than I am...

For the first time this year, I finally tried the famous Little Caesar's pizzeria with the girls. Unfortunately I didn't drive down to their original one at Mundaring, settled for the more accessible Leederville outlet. Then went back on a separate occasion with Jeanette, Sam, Jeremy and Steven about two weeks later...

Always packed! Never empty and always having to wait for tables. Be sure to go early at like 5pm or to wait for your turn. Dont go when you are absolutely keeling over with hunger though.

So many choices...

The kitchen and cashier.

The accolades and awards! No joke! But are the pizzas when I went there deserving? We shall see...

This is the garlic/periperi prawns flavour. Prawns were juicy and pretty fresh. I really like the crust and base. Good amount of cheese, slightly salty...

Seafood marinara? Or is this the split pizza with smoked salmon? Yes you can have two flavours on one pizza!

Chicken parmesan pizza. This one I love!

Mudhoney! TOO SWEET!!!! Sugar rush but I like it nevertheless! Chocolate base was so good and I love honey.

Oysters kilpartick was too fishy for me but hey, if you love oysters, awesome choice for you on pizza!

Another awesome prawn proscuitto combination!

Moroccan lamb was not too bad. Full of flavour definitely but lamb slightly tough. Definitely one for the lamb lovers!

Smoked salmon again. I really like it but I just find that it is nothing special given all the other awesome combinations to choose from.

And there were only five of us?! Unbelievable. We actually nearly finished it all! Left with a couple of slices.

And yeah! Ice cream on dessert pizza!!!Not as sweet as mudhoney and just right. I really prefer this one to the other. And its called Eskimo Joe.

As this is quite sometime back and I have super lousy memory this period of time given the amount of braincells occupied (I mean, I walk into walls!), the overall experience was worth it and if you are craving pizza, it really is the place to go in my opinion. I like the thin crust and base. I have yet to try the french tea party dessert pizza and definitely will be going back when I am not so sick of pizza. I have had quite a few as you can tell ;)

Great place to hang out with friends and have a complete meal, savoury and sweet! Prepare for some noisy chatter though! If you prefer a quiet atmosphere, do takeaways!!! Call in and make your order and pick up! Even better!

M's Food Find #65

FOOD FOOD FOOD. I can't live without it yet I wish I could. But thankfully I can't so I can enjoy all these yummy ones. The recent family visit here in Perth was quite the culinary feast especially with all the new restaurants opening up. Can't wait for Nobu opening in September! All the new interests and openings just make me love Burswood more than I already do.

This food find is on one of the newest restaurants in Perth Burswood Entertainment Complex. Modo Mio serves up Italian cuisine for lunch and dinner. My family and I visited for lunch on their last day here and photos will take you through our journey.

It replaces the old Victoria Station restaurant.

Waiting area just behind those doors. Yes, they have queues so make your booking to avoid disappointments!

Or sit at the bar with a drink before dinner...

Chef's kitchen, well you can watch them make pizza and such! Love this particular open concept even if it is a little far from some tables. Wish it could be a little more interactive so to speak. But more on pizza...

Sorry, it is a little blurry. But that's the whole seating area. Pretty big and spacious with the bright/light colours and lighting. Very different from the Victoria Station dim mood.

Our table. Sure it is alittle casual compared to the rest in Burswood but it does give patrons more options and choices. I like the idea that it is not as stuffy and stiff.

Spot the woodfire pizza stove from afar!

A cute mini lamp that was on the tables. SO COOL, it runs on rechargeable stations. Dad was super fascinated with it, truth be told, I was too. I wanted one so bad! Sadly, they don't sell it in Perth. Sis actually took a series of photos of Dad and I playing with it and just fiddling with it. HA HA HA.

Lunch menu, still quite a few choices there and good ones too.

Nice clean setting. I don't know why I am always so fascinated with settings and the cutlery. Guess it shows alot about the effort and details the management takes into consideration.

Yummy bread, albeit a little too tough on the crust. I love how the olive oil, balsamic vinegar and rocksalt is presented. Tear-drop shaped. So pretty. Dad and I also played with this one, tilting it enough so the olive oil flows or vice versa into each part without overflowing out of the saucers.

Dad ordered this for entree, the cold cuts. We ordered one of the 3course set and 2 of the 2course sets.

The fettucine dish with such a wonderous tang of tomato. Vegetarian dish but so satisfying. This had the whole family digging into it. Even Mum who shunned tomato paste stuff. Very light and refreshing for a pasta dish. Good choice!

Prosciutto risotto. Obviously, my order. Love the clean presentation but unfortunately, the taste...too salty for my liking. The risotto is actually cooked through perfectly, with bite and softness. Just that the ingredients and flavours don't seem to dance on my tastebuds.

PIZZA! Alittle unexciting looking, and it really do taste like it looks. The prosciutto and rocketleaf pizza is a very unforgiving pizza in my opinion. It is so simple and really differentiates the good and bad pizza bases etc. Here, the pizza base and crust were too tough and very bland. The tomato/cheese base a little too bland... Let's not go on here.

After main courses, desserts are a MUST. In italian restaurants, tiramisu is my favourite go to dessert but I am also usually attracted to unique ones too. Nevertheless, let's talk about this tiramisu. Not the best Ive had but it will do and finishes the courses quite well. Nothing to shout about, nothing to crave about. Just...nice.

The poached pear with vanilla bean panna cotta. Very sour pear from the poached juice. And the panna cotta probably had too much gelatin in it... For those who don't have too sweet tooth, and still would like a dessert. Cleanses the palate well. But I would go for the tiramisu here if given the choice.

Overall, the service was alright, better than average but not good enough to praise heaps on. The food and prices and ambience matched well in my opinion. No big discrepancies and grievances here. Worth a visit but whether it warrants a second one is up to you. Unfortunately, not for me.

Till my next food find, Mayy xo

M's Food Find #30

Last one for the day before I retire for the night! A new food place we tried out tonight for dinner. We always seem to have to rack our brains when we want to go out in Perth. Nothing new really and if new, it hardly impresses us... Nevertheless, read on for our The Moon adventure in Northbridge (next to Dominos)!

I thought this was just for show, but you can actually sit right in the front window for a drink and chat with your friends!

It is quite dark in this picture but this was out back in the restaurant and filled with kitschy stuff and mismatched antiques.

A quirky sort of hangout, something different in Perth.

That's their food menu with quite abit of choices as it is double-paged. I saw quite a few people ordering finger food to go with their drinks. No one really ordered dinner food like we did...

That is the Creamy Prawn Fettucine! I am happy to report the prawns were fresh but the fettucine and cream sauce are nothing to rave about.

A pretty different sort of pasta: Blue, Pumpkin and Thyme Fettucine. We didn't know it was going to be a cream-based one but it is. The pumpkin gave this dish a sweetness and the I can really taste the thyme. An odd combination which should be cooked well in the right circumstances. However, the chef is probably having his off day or something.

The Large Calamari came in mainly shoestring fries and salad. A pathetic amount of fried calamari but SO DELICIOUS. You just wish they were more generous here. I mean, shoestring fries were really good with their mayo sauce and the salad was fresh and the salad dressing was so so good too. BUT when I order calamari, I expect CALAMARI not fries and salad...

And of course, how can we NOT have dessert? We ordered the chocolate pizza which came with walnuts as well. It looked good with a thin crust when it came. Unfortunately, it stopped short. The crust was not crispy and quite tough to chew on. The walnuts and chocolate had a really good aroma going on but the pizza base really is a letdown.

Four of us paid $71.50 for it and I suppose that is quite reasonable. We didn't even manage to finish the pasta which we had to do a takeaway. The restaurant had quite good service. It also runs on a tab basis so be sure to have a credit card or driver's licence for them. Overall, it is not an experience I would be rushing to go back for.

We ended the night a little disappointed because we didn't know where else we could go. That's our problem always, plan for dinner then we end up going home if we have no game plan after because there is just no place else to head to and someone is bound to leave their identification at home... But hey, I guess I get to blog for you eh? Hope you are having a good night!

Till my next food find, Mayy xo
