Mayy's Closet #71

One of my favourite outfits and top in my closet and I have had it for years. I refused to give it up. It takes me through 3 seasons a year and thats saying alot. Truth be told, I think I have a thing for olive green and gold.

I love white pants and I wear them occasionally when the urge gets very very strong. Usually it causes laundry issues because I only do my whites together. So when I wear this, I spend my whole week in a lot of whites (dresses, tops, etc).

This top takes me through work and casual dates. I love it and I feel comfortable in it and to me, the above outfit there is one of my favourite first dates outfits. It makes me feel sexy and stylish. And comfortable. Never wear something new on a first date is one of the best advice a girl can ever listen to. Not new tops dresses pants etc. Bags and accessories are ok. It is really not a time for being adventurous. You want to be able to see if you get along with the other person, not be worrying about your heels or your boobies falling out. (And if you are worrying about your boobies, wrong outfit girlfriend!)

And there you go, a full length of how a teaching outfit is for me. Semi corporate and still casual. I think maybe its all in the heels...

Mayy's Closet #39

There are days when I really don't feel like anything special, no theme or anything. So my best bet is always a polo tee and jeans. But I only ever wear polo tees by Ralph Lauren. That is one of my weaknesses. I like their skinny fit where it really flatters a lady's figure. If you get the right size.

I like that they are so comfortable and yet looks so much more put together than a tee shirt. You can wear them with ballet flats for that hint of feminity. Wear sports shoes if you are feeling sporty and wanna run around for a day. Wear heels too if you want! Wear with wellingtons on a rainy day. Wear with driving shoes or gomminos (Tods if you can) for the ultimate casual day.

This is me Monday last week, still a little unwell. It is my Black/Gold big horse combination. Ultimate favourite one of the lot. The parents bought me this on a family trip which I didn't go on because I was stuck here. I paired it with my Volcom jeans I got years back from a surf shop up in Blue Mountains, Sydney. I remember it well. So comfortable with a slight stretch. I had to alter length and waist and the leg hems. What to do when you really want something and it didn't really fit too well in the dressing room? My gold/black belt goes nicely here and it was only AUD3 from Supre last December. Who cares about footwear now that you are this comfortable? Wear a pair of havaianas to go with the heck-care theme. Black-gold ones.

A normal green polo with a pink small horse with a black pair of skinny jeans and green havaianas. I really liked this green one because the colour is bright enough to chase away any grey clouds and dreary moods.

A pink/blue small horse polo tee which has been retired because I wore it out already. With a high waisted skirt with gold embellished which I got from Bangkok (I think because I can't remember). Throw on a sporty-nerd white cardigan from Mango, a blue pashmina as a scarf. White/gold sunnies from Valleygirl and a pink furry Guess bag for a rock star look.

Did I mention why I am talking about Ralph Lauren? It's because Harbourtown Perth finally have an outlet for them. I spent quite abit on Friday there. And I can't wait to go back again. So you will hear about them again for sure!

Mayy's Closet #38

It is Autumn now and so nearly winter. The temperature is exceedingly cold now and especially this afternoon. It used to be sunny in the days and cold in the mornings and nights. But it is time for boots and thick jackets all. Brrrrrr.

Nevertheless, I associate autumn with maple leaves and the earthy sort of colours. I like that I can wear light weight material but in long sleeves and longer hemlines. They guard out the wind but help keep cool under the hot afternoon sun. In the beginning of the season that is. Now the rainclouds are approaching and so with it, usually winter.

Here's an autumn outfit I really liked:

The olive green off-soulder Mango top and tiedye maxiskirt from Ahsi as a birthday gift. And there, the m)phosis gold sandals in Shoestopper #31.

Back in CIC days, nearly three years ago now. I have had the Mango top for quite a while. More than 5 years now and I will never ever retire it. I love it too much, the material, the design, the sleeves, the colour that is rarely good looking. I bought it in Singapore, from a Mango sale methinks but it still wasn't cheap. Mum bought it for me because well, who could say no to it.

So comfortable for a day out and about. Effortless really to throw them on and still look like I put in an effort to go with a theme. I always like to dress to a certain 'theme'/look/style. This one is a no brainer. It is bohemian.

And of course, the skirt goes well with a normal black tanktop too. This Temt top is previously featured in Mayy's Closet #10. A more recent photo just early last year. I got the black and silver butterfly bag in this photo at Melbourne's Queen Victoria Market for only AUD5. Super big and stored a whole lot for a day of classes in uni.

There you go, a bohemian Autumn. What are your favourite fall colours?

Mayy's Closet #36

So one more closet post before we move on to other topics of the day! But I didn't promise. Anyway, the focus here is really the cargo harem pants. The reason I am posting this is because I paired the Anna Sui tee from Prints Six with it during my recent Taipei trip.

It doesn't look too harem pants here. Anyway, it is really conmfortable and I think I have had it in my wardrobe for the past what, five years maybe? I don't regret this buy ever. Mum is not a big fan of it but I love its comfort. I am pretty sure I bought it in a random shop in Heartland Mall, Kovan. Usually wear it with a tight tee (below) or a racer back like here. The kind of green I like in a comfortable Mango racerback.

With a big big Lindor ball at David Jones in the city. Yummy. But I didn't buy it. Since the baby blue Roxy tee is blocked here, we will blog about it some other time.

Nearly always worn with flats because well, I am so not in the mood for heels if I am wearing something this comfortable eh? But I reckon high heeled booties would work here. Usually a more boyish, rugged, sporty look.

There, told you it was baggy. I was going for comfort that day and also the last outfit I wore with my old hairstyle. So not ready for a photo op with my hairdresser but hey, we managed to pull it off. I would never give this pants up so for now, I have lugged it from Singapore to Perth and back to Singapore where it stays for now.

So what do you think? Too boyish for your liking? Nothing special about it? Not your thing? Not that I care because I love it.

Mayy's Closet #17

In celebration of the successful delivery of my 40 minute presentation today, let's do a 'What the heck was I thinking' closet post. Two years ago, I let myself out into the world looking like this...

I think that MIGHT have been okay if I was in Taiwan or Japan. But I was in Perth, wearing that colourful outfit: Skulls beanie from Zhu Hai, mauve coloured fur trim jacket from Mango, hearts printed top from Best and Less kids section, black skirt which I had for a really long time, pink leggings from Cotton On and the most comfortable white flats from Bangkok (which I am very sad that it could not last me forever).

I supposed it was a very comfortable outfit and kept me warm in the spring/winter weather. I probably thought the 'kiddier' I looked, the more studious I would be. It probably is true. So does that mean that if you dress well, you don't get good grades? Well the hypothesis remains unjustified with no proper data to support that claim. Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com

There's the Best and Less long sleeve printed top again, paired wth my Surfbabe khaki asymmetrical skirt and black leggings. Now where did this top go again?
