What with all the fashion week going on in the global fashion capital cities, I live vicariously through the likes of Ingrid of thebaghagdiaries and Bryanboy of bryanboy.com. Their lifes so amazing and they do their work so well. You can also see behind all the glamour and glitter, they must have put in so much hard work in their own way. If you don't already know, you need to head on over to their blogs for some awesome reads.

As for me, I shall take a break from my work and do a little post on clothes which neglected on this blog but my days revolve around it on my facebook page, Mayy's Closet!

Here goes! For the wonderful spring/summer days approaching...

A maxidress from Supre that can be worn two ways. Halterneck in this case and strapless in the next. It is a tad long for me but got it altered.

I love maxidresses, they really elongate the body and make me seemed so much taller than I actually am. In love with the simple style that you can dress up or down with it. Like a blank canvas to play with. Bangles, long necklaces, earrings, rings, bags, shoes. Oh the endless possibilities!

No harm that it is definitely in my favourite colour of all time. That exact shade of blue/green. Oh the wonderful robin-egg blue colour of a Tiffany's box, wrapped me up with a pristine white silk ribbon please.

Maybe you will find a charm or diamond in me ;)

Well well well, it dropped to less than 0 degrees last night here. And I only wore a top and jeans today. Oops. Anyway, here's another NON-winter outfit. Unless I bundle up with three layers of cardigans and a big furry jacket. Nevertheless, here it is...

A very comfortable piece of clothing I have ever owned. The blue flower printed maxidress from Temt didn't cost me alot. I remember wearing it often to classes and study days because I could hide/fold/stretch my feet under the tent of a skirt. And it was summerdays where you needed a light flowy material that breathes. No regrets there but have decided to share my joy with my cousin who admittedly looks better in it than I do!

Just got back home from dinner with the girls. They are moving in together and I did help with unpacking for abit. I just like being organised and neat I guess. Anyway, I am too full from dinner at my favourite Vietnamese restaurant, Toto's in Vic Park and decided to blog before showering.

Here's the dress I wore for my night out at Burswood: dinner at Sirocco and drinks at MinQ after.

I bought this dropped hem black ruffled maxi dress from Dolly Girl in Carousel. One of the first shops to introduce the dropped hem style dress before Valleygirl and Ally came out with theirs. Admittedly, this dress is so NOT made for winter since it is strapless and material is too thin.


Topped with a cropped cardigan,

and belted for better waist definition.

Or you can wear it sideways... I can't seem to pull off this look but Anna wears this way better. Since she is too tall and the front becomes too short for her.

I really liked the unique hemline and how classically simple this black dress is. I mean, it is a dress for keeps! No expiration date really. Just a good pair of strappy stilettos to match. When I walked in it, the back of the dress seems to float around your legs and you just feel a little like you are walking on air. Sort of like a peacock too, or a princess.

Well, can't wait for summer to roll around and I can wear this again. I really do have too many summer dresses.... BUT it is winter now so do keep yourself warm!

Following on with the theme of me NOT dressing weather-appropriate, we have this recent outfit worn to dinner with the girls. And it was just turning cold where the early mornings and late nights felt like the middle of winter.

Yeah, a mid-calf maxi dress. I clearly wasn't thinking straight. Either that or I just really wanted to wear the dress...HEH. Whatever, weather is just a mere obstacle.

I got this pretty little dress from Bugis again at SGD12. I really liked the neckline and the little teeny anchor prints!

I love the nautical theme so this really is perfect for me to fall in love with. Nawwwwww...

I belted it with a brown woven belt to break the monotony and to hide the elastic waistband.

I spent the whole day in uni in it and just drew on some red lips before dinner. With the nautical theme and navyblue/white combination, scarlet red lips are really the perfect accessory to it. The material is also not the lousy light thin cotton kind, but a heavier and thicker material that holds up really well. Not bad for 12bucks!

I did put on a white scarf to go with it and my favourite white Schu-stoppers. I can't wait for spring and summer to roll around so I can bring it out to play with me again!

Mayy's Closet #52

Good evening people! How's all your Sundays going? Westfield Carousel is open today for telethon and some shops have special one-day only sales. Not that I made use of them because the things I wanted were not in stock and the things I bought were already on sale. Ohhhhhh boy. So after spending my 10am to 3pm today in the mall, I thought it appropriate to blog about clothes.

A black and white striped mid-calves maxi dress with scoop neck and 3/4 sleeves.

I bought this in Bugis and it comes with the brown woven belt for only SGD12 or was it SGD15? Whatever it is, I love it. These vertical stripes don't make me look fat somehow. In my opinion. Phew. The material is too thick for summer though. That's why I brought it over here to Perth. Together with a stained red lip and light black eyeliner, it is a simple yet special dress.

I guess if I wore a black tailored jacket/coat here with Shoestopper #1, it would qualify for corporate wear too. Love dresses with so many options!

And for a lunch/day date with the girls, my favourite white Schu stilettos in Shoestopper #33.

With a red beret and my navyblue Longchamp Le Pilage bag with the Eiffel Tower print, I thought it was perfect for a day out in France. It is wishful thinking though, perhaps one day soon eh.

French chic or demure chic? I think this comfortable dress is sweet and feminine in its own right. How else would you dress it up?

Well hello there! How has your week been so far? Mine has been so busy and I have finally got time to take a breather. Not for long though, I have to go back to actual stuff soon. It will be nice to keep blogging with all the backlogs. Alas, I have no such luxury, as of YET. Hahaha.

Ever since I started blogging on Mayy's Closet, I have featured about 6 maxi-dresses. I have so many more to tell you the truth because I am just obsessed with the gorgeous length and ease of wearing and effortless styling. I can go on. Then I realised I haven't blogged about my very first maxidress.

The dress that officially kickstarted my love affair.

I wore it onto a cruise trip. Maxidresses are so made for cruise collections and beach vacations. They are epitome of summer with the prettiness of spring and elegance of autumn.

Allow me to bask in some narcissism for now. That was my first time wearing it out. Anna and I went to Freo and these photos were taken there. Amazing sky, blue and fluffly white clouds. The crystal clear sea and beautiful rocks. Makes me feel like a million bucks.

But guess what, this dress was bought during my first trip to Supre Osborne Park with Anna and Endah. It only costs me AUD7.50. Yes. AUD7.50, and a few weeks later I saw it in the city's Supre going for AUD40ish. SCORE!!!

I would love to buy a few bangles of the same shades as my dress and wear them all on my wrist.

Mayy's Closet #37

Autumn comes around and somehow, just like spring I like wearing maxidresses. Except I get alot more bundled up with scarves and cardigans in autumn. I would like to blog about a dress I wore last spring/summer on a foodie and DSLR day out. I have since given it to sis. I actually bought it thinking I would give it to her, then I thought oh what the heck I will wear it. Then I did and thought it really isn't my thing so it's hers. I am fickle like that. But I am glad she likes it. She better. Except she thinks it is weird to wear it out in Singapore or to uni with it. Hmmmm, what are YOUR thoughts? Weird or not? Because of all the judging eyes?

I bought this dress from Temt Harbourtown months back, at AUD19.95. I like the blue and the material is thick and very good quality. So worth the price I paid. It looks like clouds are printed on it too. But somehow, it reminds me of sis so I guess, it really belongs to her. Oops.

I wore it out for a lunch date with Anna and Li Jia during the holidays to Burswood's Victoria Station.

Ended up for a walkabout nearby at the Peninsula. My dream place to stay in Perth. Yes the sky was lovely. The clouds were white and fluffy. I had graduated ish. Life was really good back then. I am looking forward to the end of this year. Before full adult responsibilities fall upon my shoulders. Don't get me wrong. I love working for my own keep. Just, kids will always be kids.

Oh alright, what is a day without fashion? Even if I am stuck at home as a sick cat, I can still read about clothes and shoes. Stare at mine and think about the week's outfits. So enough with the chocolate cakes I cannot eat now. Clothes, I can wear regardless of body temperature and whatnots.

I wore this on a teaching day just before Easter holidays, on my last day before I flew off to Singapore/Taiwan in April. It was my first time wearing it and it sure took me a while to get into it. I remembered having initial trouble with this Roxy maxidress in WAVES Carousel. Yes, we got off to a rocky start but I had to have it because I just thought it was a really pretty dress. At AUD65, it is not the cheapest thing I could have gotten given how the zips were not too great. But I eventually found one in all their stocks that were semi working and brought it home with me. I refused to give it up. The negative things about this dress is that the shoulder straps were too thin and made out of ribbon like material which is really just shoddy.

The material of the dress however, is like none other. Silky smooth but not too thin and light as silk. It is a dress meant to be handled very delicately. The prints on it were so elaborate with the little Roxy logos weaved into them. The colours were something I don't really have. It's not called the Mermaid for nothing because I do feel quite pretty in it. Pile on the white, gold and wood bangles and slip on a pair of flat sandals. Dresses like these are not meant to be worn with too much junk. It is a statement on its own. Perfect for summer. And throw on a long white cardigan for spring.

Not my best maxidress to date but in my defense, Mum actually bought this at Bugis in Singapore at this shop we go to all the time. She then decided she didn't want it. So it became mine somehow and I brought it with me to Taipei. Wore it for a day out and about. But now, it's likely to be going to a good friend who will appreciate it more than I do. Because I really don't need more clothes... My wardrobe here in Perth is tiny and the poor metal hanger is bent U-shaped! HA HA HA.

I like the black and white butterfly prints and the frills. Abit much but because it is such a dark colour, I guess I will give that a pass.

Yes, that's my favourite bit. The back top part of the dress. The triangular frills view. Something different from all the other frocks out there. So tell me, yay or nay? Would a tan brown belt have helped and break the monotony there?

And it is Friday! I hope you have grand plans for the weekend. Me? I am nursing a stuffed nose. I just want to get better!

Hello! It is Monday and due date for the big report which is slowly causing panic amongst the group of us. I panicked but not today. Thank goodness. Did I mention I love my supervisors? Well, I do. In any case, I had a good weekend invigilating and partying and sort of chillaxing for abit.

Let me blog about a maxi-dress I got as part of my Supre online spree about a month ago now. Time flies, I remembered just getting to know the new friends and now, it's like I have known them for a while now and not just for the past couple of months. Alright alright, back to clothes. The prints are very very busy, tiny flowers on a black background. It is a little too big for me but I guess it is comfortable in that sense. I will live with the size difference. Next time, it's XS not S for Supre maxidresses. The lower half of the dress is slightly tighter so I can't take too big steps in them. Abit more demure.

I feel like I was wearing a sarong or sari skirt or, I feel like an air stewardess. Hahaha. I decided against wedges and went with a simple pair of thongs which contrasted really well colour-wise.

I accessorized with a brown belt and long gold necklace. As usual, bangles of different colours or colours to match your footwear. Take a brown clutch or a tan shopping tote. Boho chic for the day.

Mayy's Closet #23

#23! One of my favourite numbers. So I will blog about the dress I wore yesterday which I love love love. For several reasons. I bought this dress in Ally recently for AUD15. I am glad it is not too long and fits me for my height. The material is actually quite thin and light and definitely no colourful lingerie please. I absolutely love the colours, the electric dark and light blue against a white base. Yes, I am predictable about my colour combinations. So what?

From the side, the ruffles around the neckline, past the shoulders and to back really shows. I also like how the maxidress has slits on both sides. It does make for easier walking and climbing stairs. The skirt hem is also curved at the sides which showed abit more attention to detail so plus points!

And there you go the back view with the ruffled backline. Would be nice if it plunges down abit more. But, with the existing dress, it is alot easier to dress for with minimal fuss and preparation beforehand. Pile on the wooden and white bangles. Throw on a pair of gold sandals. We are ready to rock and roll. I spent a full day in this, bringing me from morning to dinner. It's official, I love this dress to bits.

I just came back from dinner out with Shiyu, Nurun and Li Jia. We didn't have the best food and alot of the hilarious conversations we had were in the car going to and fro! Nevertheless, it is always nice to head out with a few girlfriends and be able to dress up for it... So before I blog about the food, here's a closet post for outfit of the night!

I was looking through my wardrobe and it took me quite a while to decide what to wear. I was being insanely picky of course and I was leaning towards wearing something new. Hence I settled for this maxidress and broke my own stereotype that this is a day dress!

I bought this dress last year at a closing down sale for Suite Boutique in Harbourtown (it has since been replaced by ChicaBooti). Everything in the shop was AUD10! I couldn't really believe it but when I asked and it was, I had to get it. I could wear flats with it and not sweep the floor. But for dinner tonight, I decided on wedges. The material was light and comfortable. I really liked the wood beadings. Pile on a heap of bangles and I am ready to go.

Because it is such a cold windy night out and I only wore it for less than 3 hours, I can wear it again tomorrow during the day and it will be fine! There we go, I found another day to night dresses! Just bring a change of shoes and accessories. A bigger shopper tote in the day with maybe a cardigan, a small clutch for the night and slap on some glitter eyeshadow and you are ready for your dinner date! I wore my hair down here but I can totally see me bunning the hair in an updo sitting atop ala Lauren Conrad on the cover of her Style book and putting on a pair of big shades. A good look for a day at the Sunday fair/markets. Sunday brunch with the girls. Early dinner with your special one.

It always makes me happy when I wear something nice AND new. Does it do the same for you?
