its 11pm and officially time for supper. something i always indulged in when i was a kid but very much less so as years gone by and weight is such an issue.
however, everytime im back home in singapore there is one place i cannot resist once in a while.
The coffeeshop at Geylang Lorong 29. Sure brings back fond childhood memories. its been renovated several times now but from way back to the old tvs and charcoal grills. i did like it so much back then. alot of things changed but there is one thing that didnt.
the best Hokkein Mee in town. ever. and copied by so many others but only in name. and they even got the name wrong. the original name is as pictured. and not Lorong 29 Hokkein Mee like the one in east coast claimed to be.
Really had that strong charcoal grill smell, soft noodles with that smokey flavour. fresh prawns, yummy chilli. ohhh what i would give to have that now.
While other stalls often pale in comparison to my favourite, the orh luak is not too bad and the duck rice is definitely worth giving it a go. the satay has since slipped in standards so i never really go for thay anymore.
Im just glad this place remains authentically Singaporean and not overrun by mainland chinese workers.
