M loves Hershey's Nuggets!

Brrrrrr... it's getting cold here in Perth and I still refuse to wear proper thick clothes at home so I rather freeze my bum off. I think one of the best/worst things about the cold weather is that I absolutely crave for chocolate, almost all the time. The craving used to only hit once a month, but not anymore. I have since had alot of weird cravings, especially burgers and salt and vinegar potato chips.

The problem with my cravings is that I crave for specific things. Even if I get something similar but not the exact one. It does NOT satisfy the craving. I end up wanting more, and my brain will be occupied with it. ANYWAY, we are talking about chocolates weren't we? Yeah. I had 4 Godiva pralines a few days ago and then 2 easter eggs yesterday which resulted in me having a 'sexy' voice but thankfully no sore throat. I think my voice is back to normal today. Nevertheless, I was looking through my photobank and guess what. I saw photos of chocolates. It brought back some memories, and a particular craving. UH OH...

Have you seen them before? They are HERSHEY's NUGGETS! Oh lordie, I don't think they have it ANYWHERE here. If you knew me way back in secondary school or even JC, I used to buy loads of them whenever I go to Bangkok for a vacation and bring it to school and hand them out to friends. OR maybe I bought loads and stashed them away for personal consumption.

Singapore had them for a really short while and then discontinued the line. I was so bummed out but ecstatic when I rediscovered them in Bangkok's 7-eleven and supermarkets. It really has been a while since I had them. I also don't recall Hershey's World shops in RWS selling them...

A very rare sighting. Cherry dark chocolate flavour. Luxurious gold wrapping but still not my favourite flavour.

And no prizes for guessing that this is MY favourite of the lot. COOKIES AND CREAM!!! Nevermind it comes in silver and blue, quite a nice colour combi BUT the taste!

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com

Yes, they also come in a stick of four. The white creamy chocolate is sweet enough for any sweet tooth and the cookies crunch is so generous! I would pop the whole nugget in my mouth and had to have two at least.

If anyone in the world out there knows where I can get these, I will be eternally grateful. Tell me. So I have hope that it is still being sold and I have the chance of having it in my life once again...

Shoestopper #30

Well, I did say there will be shoe talk! How can I not right? So I decided on this pair because I was chatting with Li Jia about what shoes I should wear for dinner tonight with my friends. And she suggested, based on the dresses I had in mind, a gold based pair. I immediately thought of this but alas, it is no longer part of my shoe collection since last year when I wore it out.

Nevertheless, one of my favourite colours, one of my favourite kinds of shoe designs, translating into a favourite pair of shoes. A buy in Far East Plaza years ago, from a shop in Level One opposite Mondo. I cannot remember its name but I sure know where it is.

Doesnt she look sleek? It is a little bright and shiny and reflective patent but that's the way I like it! A good height for walking around in. I just LOVE the pointed front and the detail at the sides of it (see the sharp angle?).

I remember my heart breaking when I saw the faux patent leather cracking as I broke into the pair of heels. But the cracks gave it character and soften the shoes. At first the front was too pointed and pinched my toes but I soon got used to it. I guess it helped in shaping my feet front to not be so spread out.

I will always continue looking for another pair like it but am pretty sure, I won't be able to in a long while find something quite like it and at the price range (if I recall right, below SGD30).

Mayy's Closet #33

Hello everyone! How was your easter break? I hope you found lots of chocolate eggs and had a good rest even if you don't celebrate the holiday. I don't either but really appreciated the break. Now that I am back, I thought let's talk clothes and then shoes.

So here's a top I bought in December last year in Supre Osborne Park.
The blue see-through kaftan-like top is such a happy colour on a cloudy day. I got it for AUD10 or less. I had to wear a white tank top inside and paired it with my Cotton On grey skinny jeans. A simple look for a day in uni and still looked like I put in some sort of effort with a long necklace.

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com

Yes, I love butterfly sleeves and I just haven't got round to wearing them all and posting about them. They are comfortable and look good too. Wonderful for spring time and a staple in my vacation wardrobe. Especially if they are long enough for me to wear leggings with. For me, that combination always ranks number one for my airplane outfits.

Not only that, this particular top is such a triple threat because I can just wear it as a throwover/kaftan over my bikini/swimsuit for a day out at the beach or a resort/beach vacation! No?

Don't you love a piece of clothing that can be used in so many ways?

Mayy's Closet #32

Good morning! No, it is actually 9pm at night now but I only just woke up from my nap. I have a flight tonight home so I thought it wise. I have been having the worst kind of sleep for the past weeks. I always wake up feeling like I have had a marathon night.

Regardless, I have been pushing my body limits. This is one of the dresses I wore to combat fatigue and went out instead last Friday for dinner and a quick shop around in the city with Anna. I spent a whole full day out and about in it, from uni to city.

Not very clear here, it is a new dress from Supre. Yes one of the online buys. I thought it was a flower kind of print that I don't have in my wardrobe. Pretty grandma vintage chic. Flower power 60s look.

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com

So I accessorized accordingly. Gold tear drop earrings and white/gold/wood bangles. I even did my hair up for the day. I liked the shirred neck line and how breezy it is. I wore it on a cool autumn day and well, it didn't seemed to me like it could stand up to the cold but it did somehow. I am impressed. I definitely know how it stacks up on summer days. If on a wintery day, I could just wear black stockings with it and and boots. And a granny knit cardigan. I need me one of those now. We will see.

Well then, that's a blog post for now. Maybe I will do one more but I shldnt think so. You may or may not also hear from me in a week.

MEANTIME, HAVE A GOOD EASTER HOLIDAYS EVERYONE! May the Easter bunnies send you a big basket full of eggs and chocolate goodness!

Shots of Singapore

I'm coming home
I'm coming home
Tell the World I'm coming home
Let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday
I know my kingdom awaits and they've forgiven my mistakes
I'm coming home,
I'm coming home
Tell the World that I'm coming

"A house is Not a Home", I hate this song
Is a house really a home when your loved ones are gone

Mayy's Closet #31

Hello! It is Monday and due date for the big report which is slowly causing panic amongst the group of us. I panicked but not today. Thank goodness. Did I mention I love my supervisors? Well, I do. In any case, I had a good weekend invigilating and partying and sort of chillaxing for abit.

Let me blog about a maxi-dress I got as part of my Supre online spree about a month ago now. Time flies, I remembered just getting to know the new friends and now, it's like I have known them for a while now and not just for the past couple of months. Alright alright, back to clothes. The prints are very very busy, tiny flowers on a black background. It is a little too big for me but I guess it is comfortable in that sense. I will live with the size difference. Next time, it's XS not S for Supre maxidresses. The lower half of the dress is slightly tighter so I can't take too big steps in them. Abit more demure.

I feel like I was wearing a sarong or sari skirt or, I feel like an air stewardess. Hahaha. I decided against wedges and went with a simple pair of thongs which contrasted really well colour-wise.

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com

I accessorized with a brown belt and long gold necklace. As usual, bangles of different colours or colours to match your footwear. Take a brown clutch or a tan shopping tote. Boho chic for the day.

M's Makeup Case

Goodness, it has been a while since I said I would blog about this again. Sorry, I was just sidetracked. I am so not a makeup girl. I prefer using getting it professionally done when it's special events. Alas, you grow up and you head out. And sometimes, simple things need to be learnt. Let's talk about my eyeshadows. They are simple to apply and they change your look in an instant. These are what I have with me at the moment: Bobbi Brown palette of dark brown, light brown and nude; Red Earth; Clarins brown/pink/blue mini sample palette; Cyber Colours. Most of them are bought from Sasa in Singapore. I love Red Earth makeup. If I had to choose one to stick to for the rest of my life, I think it would have to be it. The range is comprehensive enough. Cycber Colours is a pretty cool brand too. I just got the black/glitter one for instant smoky look. And the pure silver glitter ones is PERFECT for night outs. I always carry it with me and my friends apply it on in the ladies whenever they meet me. Light up the eyes literally. Lol.

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com

I use the Iced Brownie from Red Earth already. It is just brown with shimmer. So perfect for a dinner with friends and you really don't want to put too much effort in. It sure helps. I have not tried Cleopatra yet but I knew I had to buy it when I saw it. Gold. OK GOLD. I don't know how to pair it with just yet. Give me a moment...

So are you an eyeshadow kind of girl? What colours are your favourite? How do you like applying them? I find that using the little finger works.

Shoestopper #29

After wearing heels the whole night and throughout the week, let's give the feet a break even if it is virtual. Still, this shoestopper is nothing short of spectacular!

BLING BLING! KA CHING!

Yes, they are flat sandals from Vincci. They are so glamourous and I find it ironic I bought them at the least of glamourous places. It was at a John Little sale in Orcard Road YEARS back where they had this outside space cordoned off. It used to be opposite the now -313 Somerset.

I used to wear them often and I feared that I will lose them fast so I wear them only occasionally now. I love love love them to bits. They are very very comfortable with a soft sole. Feels like a slight bounce in each step. The gold glitter may seem abit too much but I find it is no problem in the day out shopping too. I know some of my girlfriends are in love with it as much as I do because they always tell me so on the rare occasions they actually spot me wearing them.

Why be afraid of something so bold coloured? Just adjust accordingly for the outfit and you will pull it off effortlessly with confidence. Bedazzle the people who will pass you by on that day. Give everyone a sparkle to talk about!

Mayy's Closet #30

It was a friend's 21st birthday party last night at Gold Bar in Subiaco. I didn't want to wear something new or wear anything too nice because it is after all, the birthday girl's night. It is like a wedding, she has this glow about her and you just know That is the one everyone is here celebrating for. Anyway, I decided on this toga Supre dress Anna bought for me in Melbourne. I wore it once last December and got compliments from the door babe at Hush etc. Without further ado, here it is. I hardly recycle my clubbing outfits because well, I seemed to keep having new ones. Anyway, I really liked this one and have no qualms to wearing it again. The hot pink is right for my skin tone and the material does not stick to me too much like a second skin. The cutting was just right for a bodycon dress, making certain the cloth for bottom half of the body area is wider. I don't know if you can see it but there are 3 diagonal lines/slight tiers across the body which breaks the monotony. That's the back of the dress. Impossible to wear a bra so thank goodness for sticky tapes.

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com

That is the look for the second time wearing it. Poufy hair, Forever New Shoestopper #3, hoop earrings, single white bangle, a mute pink bronze clutch. Light undereye and dark liner. First time round, I donned the same pair of shoes and piled my hair all to one side with a really long pair of earrings with smoky dark eyes.

Can't wait till next summer when I can take it out with me for more playtime!

Mayy's Craving For...KFC The Double

Ever since I saw Tina's facebook upload of her devouring The Double Mantime special from KFC, I knew I had to try it. I spoke to a few friends about it, and they absolutely love it. Targeted at men, it's nicknamed: It's Mantime! So finally after weeks of keeping the craving at bay, I caved in and drove down to KFC nearby with my housemate Joy. We ordered identical sets. So excited! With regular fries and water. No soft drinks. Because the calories are already stacking up. No need sugar. And get ready for....

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com

TA DAH! Doesn't it look delicious! And a little sickening all at the same time? So what does The Double consist of? This particular one is a special order. Standard: 2 Zinger chicken fillets as the 'burger buns'. 2 bacon rashers with melted cheese. And I added an extra hash brown (Tina's inspiration). I was given feedback to go for the Zinger fillets as they are jucier than the normal ones. I totally agree.

The chicken fillet were tender and juicy and crispy on the outside. The bacon rashers were cooked to perfection, tender and not burnt crisp. Melted cheese and hash brown go well together. It is amazing. Yums. I finished this all with my chips too. Such a pig. Guess it is worth it for a whole day's worth of meals!

A little upset that the promotion is ending in about a week's time if I am not wrong. So if you haven't tried this, well, life is for the living. C'est la vie and GO NOW. Don't say I didn't tell you.

My tummy is groaning in delight.

You have probably heard me going on about this for a few weeks now. My craving for ipoh horfun at Ipoh Garden in Canning Highway, Applecross. I finally had it on Friday with the group after class. Yay.

That is the dry version whith extra sambal. Two fresh prawns and a whole lot of chicken strips. Standard is somehow not as good as the first time I had it a couple of years back. Nevertheless, I get the occasional craving. You can have the clear soup version which is alot healthier?

In addition to that, you can order the Inchikabin (Fried Chicken) which is super yummy and fragrant and pretty sinful. End the meal with the super sweet sticky date pudding or some strong durian ice cream. Loves it.

I heard the one at Myaree is better but I have yet to try. I will keep you posted! Meantime, if you don't feel like having Spaghi's or Vu when you are in the area, you can try Ipoh Garden.

Mayy's Closet #29

It's been a gruelling week of managing academic and social life. But all in all, I had a blast. Here's an outfit I wore on Wednesday after a tiresome sleep. But the colours woke me up. I even wore heels to give the day a little boost, no pun intended. Am I wearing my racerback tank tops the wrong way?!

Nahhh... I am not! It's meant to be ribbed on both the front and back. Which is why I really liked it I suppose. It is simple yet something different from the everyday tank tops. I had to get these two colours to layer them together because it is such an aussie colour! Also, I love the green. And I hardly have yellow in my wardrobe. Besides it is from the Supre AUD 2.50 sale. Hahaha!

Tip: Layer the darker colour outside for a more flattering look.

Besides layering same design tops, I could have gone for one such tank top with a normal sleeveless/skinny strap top. It gives the look the illusion of more complex cut out lines.

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com

I paired it with my grey Cotton On skinny jeans with sidezips at the leg ends and my Zara shoestopper #17. Another tip: Pairing the grey stilettos with the grey jeans really lengthens the silhouette.

It is not as perfect as I would like it though... The top is very tight at the head end so it messes up my hair and you better not be wearing make up when you take them on and off!

Prints Five

Following on with ice cream... Photo credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com (old nokia phone) Bad photo quality but this one was taken years back with my phone. Anyway, I wonder where this shirt went to! Eeks. I really liked the navy blue tee shirt from FOS with purple-pink shiny words. They were not glitter words, just matte shiny. A junk food tee was it?

Completely Random

Do you use Google as often as I do? Well then, you should have noticed that Google occasionally changes its logo above the search engine. Why, you may ask? If you run your mouse over the picture, it tells you what day is it and what is Google trying to 'celebrate'. Here are three of my favourite ones so far. There are more but these are the ones I managed to save. Celebrating the 119th anniversary of documented ice cream sundae. What a sweet picture! Looks just like an old American ice cream milkshake parlour. COOKIE MONSTER! The people at Google are too creative. Absolutely hilarious this one. Loves it! And this one of all the Sesame Street characters! Awwwww, they were celebrating the big anniversary of Sesame Street for a week I think. I only managed to capture two. Do you have any favourite Google logos? Do you make the effort to find out what they are commemorating? Obviously picture credits to Google.

More food comes your way. This is on Saturday's lunch with the boys after the morning invigilation. I really wanted Ipoh horfun but alas, it is closed for the day. So we waited for Vu Vietnamese Cafe to open at 1130am. It is at Canning Highway, Applecross. Across from Spaghi in M's Food Find #31.

It is vietnamese cuisine, no prizes for guessing that. I usually go to Toto's in VicPark for it though. I decided to try the pork rice set in the lunch special. At AUD13.50, it is a bit pricey. Not the best one I have eaten yet (it was at Myaree, next to Utopia) but the soup was very very flavourful. The pork was tender. Steven had the seafood noodles which looked really good. Sam had the beef pho noodles which well must have been alright since I dont hear complains from anyone.

Overall an experience I will not be quick to repeat because I rather go to Toto's. However, if you are looking for a slightly quieter and classier place to take a date to or have an evening out with friends, this is it for you.

Not the cheapest yogurt around but well worth the investment. I absolutely am in love with this creamy smooth and thick yogurt. Gippsland Yogurt, made out of real goodness. Three flavours available I think. I always get the blueberry twist because I love blueberries and also in my opinion, the best one. RUN, don't walk, to the nearest Coles or Woolies right now. Or tomorrow since most of them are closed. I kid you not. They are yummy and I always have to have them in my fridge stock.

Mayy's Closet #28

I really should be going to sleep but last post for today. A closet post. No not something I wore today although I am happy with today's. Moving along, it is an outfit I wore out to dinner with Charlene and Zhiwei last December at The Silver Spoon. Didn't think I would actually buy and then wear something like this out. But I did and I actually like it. It is my poofy skirt from Dotti, at AUD39.95 I think. Since it was still cold weather/cool breeze, a grey turtleneck from Dotti as well to keep me slightly warm. Nothing too loud for accesories too, given the drama of the skirt. The skirt is made out of nude coral pink ruffled waves, it is not chiffon though.

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com

And I paired it with my Shoestopper #10 since the colour scheme here is really to keep it soft and girly. I would wear it again with a black scoop neck basic top and a different hairstyle. What do you suggest? French braid? I need help with that. Bunned up and chopstick it through? Hmmmm... it needs lighter pinker makeup I suppose. Nothing too edgy here. A wannabe ballerina. Swan Lake anyone?

So do you absolutely love it like I do or hate it because well, it is just too much?

Mayy loves Cupcakes!

Time for more cupcakes!!! This time, the cupcakes posted here are all HANDMADE with lotsa passion and love for baking by the very very talented Tina. A little bird told me she will be setting up a baking ordering 'shop'. I totally love personalised cupcakes/cakes. But the focus here is cupcakes. I will start with my most favourite one so far from her facebook album aptly titled the Baking Adventures! Hahaha... First off, I LOVE the colour scheme. Perfect for a glamourous party set. The stilettos and the barbie doll like figure heads are my favourite doillies. And you know what is the best thing here? She makes EVERYTHING by hand. even the little cutout fondants and all!

I am so super excited when she made the committee cupcakes today. Little baby Lindt chocolate cupcakes. First time tasting it, I will tell you they ARE DELISH. Some cupcakes are just sugar laden. These, have some real taste to it. The butter cream is really butter cream, and the chocolate cupcakes taste like real chocolate. So fluffy and moist!

Little bears and butterflies.

COOKIE MONSTSER! I would love to try these one day. But they look too good to be eaten...

Mario and Luigi and the whole gang schbang!

Pacman, this one is one of my favourites too because well, IT LOOKS SO ADORABLE. I really liked this cupcakes on cake idea too. Very different.

Lastly, BANANA SPLIT CUPCAKES! I know right, too creative. Stress must really get those juices flowing. Hahaha. They all look amazing and I can tell you now they taste amazing. I will save the cakes posts another day. Because I have a whole bunch of photos in my photobank to share too.

Well, when the day she announces her shop is up and running, I will be sure to share the details with you. Meantime, stare at these mouthwatering pieces. While me, I now know who I can call to cater for my future parties ;) better say THANKS TINA in advance hahaha!

The pretty baker remains elusive here since I haven't asked if I could post a photo of her baking up. Perhaps another day, because I know for sure I will be blogging about her creations again!

Mayy's Closet #27

I am totally procrastinating again and suffering from inner combustion. Anyway, let's blog about time where I feel truly confident and happy and stress-free. I was wearing a dress from Forever New I got in Harbourtown. It costs me AUD19.95 (or was it AUD29.95? They were having a one-day special for the dress) and I even went ahead and bought the belt with it which costs almost the same amount. I got it for another friend in Singapore who loves it. It is her birthday today, and I gave it to her months ago. HAPPY BIRTHDAY XIN HUI and of course, APRIE too! The material is sheer but very very heavy. It gives me a very mature look, but I still like the sweet yet corporate edge. It is part of my personality. I like the draping and curves. The embellished neckline. The three quarters sleeves. You have to pin the front up because well, one should not show too much. I figured the dress will not look good with leaving my hair down. A low bun to up its classiness. I wore it to Burswood for a buffet. While it brought me stares, I thought it was not the best dress for a buffet if you know what I mean. Hahaha.

That's my favourite photo of the night. Not to be narcissistic or egoistical. After all, I grew up with so many insecurities. I still see myself as if I was 12. Let's not go there.

Anyhow, love the slight shimmer. Understated elegance.
