mayyn meal - Lalla Rookh

Definitely one of the places I have been dying to go. I had a chance this year twice and so this post is a little longer with all the photos.

Walking past this for dinner is amazing.

Shared this with Jodie and the tortellini is amazingly soft with flavorful soupy base which everyone souped up afterwards with bread!

Definitely nothing to shout about unfortunately. Abit too plain.

I loved the meatballs and the crunchy bits. Would return for these!

Second visit, a platter which was abit too much and the cuts were too thick.

Waited for this braised sausage. Overall, it was quite alright. But having to wait for this, well I rather order pasta.

My dinner companions all enjoyed their above main courses.

Chocolate cake was too dense and abit dryer than I expected. The ice cream however was fantastic.

I am inclined to return to try the other interesting pasta combinations they have on it.

Mayy's Closet - Sick of Men Skirt

It was late at night and receiving this skirt in the mail on a winter's night... well, inspiration hits!

Put this together and thought I would make myself up and have a little photoshoot fun!

Felt very happy and sexy. Abit confident of myself. It definitely has been awhile since I felt that way.

Black Milk Clothing and the community it has certainly has helped me alot.

The green crop top with gold studs on the neckline is from Bangkok.
The shoes are amazing and are from Zu Australia.
The skirt is Sick of Men skirt from Black Milk Clothing (just about the only thing I wear these days).

What makes you feel good? Was there just one night you wanted to feel special and happy?
This was it for me. The skirt is alot of fun to play with and my wardrobe is something I am grateful for every single day.

mayy meal - Rockpool

Headed to Rockpool last week for Jodie's 21st birthday treat... started early and had a drink at the bar before dinner.

I liked the subtle sweetness and still a very strong whiskey drink on its own. I was quite impressed.

We ordered the Grilled Squid, Smoked Chilli and Pork Belly entree.
Squid was wonderful.
Pork Belly was all fats and only one square of meat. What a waste of money?!
Overall, a tasty dish but I was abit clueless as to why it was all pork fats.

I ordered the Pulled Pork pie which needed a 40-minute wait.
Was it worth the wait? Nope. It was too sweet even though the first few mouthfuls were great. Not even parsnip puree at the bottom. The pastry wasn't as flaky as I would like.
Definitely an overall disappointment.

Jodie had the Wagyu short which was too chewy but had the wagyu taste.
Cauliflower and Cheese Gratin was good but you can't go wrong with that can you?

The wrong dessert that arrived at our table but smelled heavenly of almond ice cream and rose jelly and strawberries. Unfortunately did not get to taste.

We ordered the Almond Macaron with Creme's Caramel Ice-cream sandwich.

Giant Macaron, yums. But man, still wasnt that awesome to full round off my night.

Second time there, second disappointment. I find it very difficult for me to give this place another chance?
Especially the price I had to pay for the dinner.

mayyn meal - Tak Chee House, Northbridge

Having seen photos of this place on Instagram, and my many months of craving for chicken rice, I finally met Jeremy for lunch and told him to take me there.

Tucked away in Northbridge, along the sreet where the ever-popular Good Fortune duck restaurant is, lies this unassuming Chinese food place - Tak Chee House.

We called in advance and made a reservation along with the food order of a quarter roast chicken and a quarter steamed chicken. Apparently it gets very busy!

I don't understand why my photos won't upload properly and I can't do anything about it.
Anyway, my review for this place is as follows:

1. Rice was not fragrant enough. But it is not oily.
2. Roast chicken was touch and dry. Not as fragrant as I would like either.
3. Steamed chicken is a saving grace with its juicy and tender meat.

Also ordered a side of their Loh Bak and beancurd. Not the best loh bak I've had in Perth either. I find it abit disappointing in general.

I got these photos off Instagram and how a single serve looks

Pretty standard fare but nothing to shout about. Won't be returning anytime soon.
