mayyn meal - The Terrace Hotel

I needed a good dinner out and abit of celebration on Thursday night after my presentation that afternoon. So it was perfect when Jodie suggested going out to the Terrace Hotel on St, Georges Terrace for dinner.

Made a reservation the day before and couldn't wait to eat somewhere nice for a change

sorry for the blurry photo.

it was a cold night so it was nice to come into the warm place with such decadent fitout and decor.

seated in the corner by the fireplace which isnt really working but still a nice cosy setting.

we had the scallops with char-siew duck for entree.

Scallops were cooked perfectly and the char siew duck was very tender.
The char siew flavour is actually quite good too.

Jodie had the sirloin steak

I had the Lamb Rump done three ways and watercress - lamb was cooked to my liking, just pink in the middle and abit raw still. the lamb spring roll is also really good. I wiped it out.

and still had room for dessert...

Chose Baked Alaska for the evening.

The blackcurrant tartness cuts through the sweet soft meringue and balances well. Something different from my usual dessert preferences, abit influenced by Masterchef I would say.

We had a one-for-one main course voucher and it came up to 50 for three course dinner for me. even if we shared the entree. it was a good meal all in all.

Its always expensive eating out in Perth, and paying abit more to get a better quality presentation and food is sometimes neccessary and worth it.

Probably won't return anytime soon but still recommend it for a nice couple dinner out or with business mates.

Mayy's Closet

Another one of those lazy days but still need to keep warm and look good and be comfortable combination.

This was my choice.

A simple red dress I last wore for my Xmas eve party last year and makes me feel abit like red riding hood.
I glammed it up with studded heels and glittery makeup then because of the festive season...but this time...

Went with my boots and minimal accessories so I can still do work and concentrate.
The dress is a good thick material from Kitschen in Singapore and it has become something I absolutely adore having in my closet.

mayyn meal - Lemon Lane

It was one of those Monday rituals last semester and we discovered this cute little laneway cafe in the heart of Claremont... I think I was looking for another Lemon cafe but ended up finding this one instead!

Quirky graffiti and tiles drew me in...

We ended up sitting outside since the weather really wasn't that bad.

It was nice to see dogs running around too and just chill for abit.

Coffee is strong and I find it properly done. We were alittle later than breakfast time so we ended up having lunch even though they did have some brekkie options on the lunch menu

This is the mushroom salad which was beautiful together but not too filling for a growing boy I think.

I obviously made the brekkie and better choice with my panini.

Gorgeous sunny side up and maple glazed bacon and pesto panini.

It was filling, simple and tasty.

Wouldn't mind going back again soon! especially for breakfast!

mayyn meal - Aisuru Sushi

I know I said I wouldn't be returning anytime soon but when it got to the last dinner I had with Jo, we both were so tired and full that we wanted something abit lighter.

We were just walking around Northbridge and it just made sense to end up here.

Sometimes, it is good to have some sushi in our belly no?

a weekend off doing things alone

I had a difficult time adjusting back to my Perth life after having had 3 trips (2 with sis and 1 with Jo) in the space of two months.

While I do know a few people here over the years, those who grew up in Perth have their own family and friends and of course some people have left after their studies...so mostly I find myself doing my own thing. There really hasn't been anyone so far whom I seemed to be able to trust explicitly to never let me down.

Anyway, I started a weekend to solidly remind myself that I really am in this alone and not even some people who call themselves friends can be trusted to keep promises.

Went out for a nice whiskey cocktail at the new champagne lounge in Crown and speaking with the bartenders.

And while I was already there, I decided to continue to pamper myself a little.

Took myself to Nobu for sushi at the counter.

Their House Roll which is actually quite good and properly done.

Enjoyed having the view of sushi chefs doing their own thing.

I did start off the night with one of their daily special entree.
Taro croquette done 3 ways.

And I slowly savoured this.

It was a nice way to make myself feel better.

And then I took out another craving on the list by going down to nearby Nando's on a Saturday evening.
Instead of choosing between chips or salad, I went with both.
