mayyn meal - Osia

This post is more of like a photo post. Osia is the Modern Australian fine dining place at Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore. In good company with neighbours like Palio and Joel Robouchon.

Started the dinner with fresh oysters. typical Aussies alright.

Pan seared foie gras and amazing fresh juicy scallop.

Lobster bisque.

The lobster entree which looked pretty and fresh tasting.

The amazing Seafood Ice Experience. Flavoured shaved ice paired with different seafood. i loved the lychee mojito ice and prawns combi best.

Amazing mushroom soup with truffle tossed croutons.

My black truffle risotto with a perfect poached egg.

The cod fish and king prawn and scallops main course. The cod fish was abit too covered by the sauce though and marred the freshness of everything.

So ice cream sundaes for the rest of the dinner crew, while I decided to go for the macademia souffle.

Absolutely perfection. A tad too sweet but it works. so worth the wait...

mayyn meal - La Barca

I have been craving for pasta so bad. And especially at this amazing Italian restaurant in Singapore. My family has been frequenting this joint for quite awhile now and I only been able to join them for the first time recently.

"Located just off Fort Road and Mountbatten Road on the East Coast, La Barca Ristorante & Wine Bar is nestled within the Goodman Arts Centre at 90 Goodman Road. Once in the Arts Centre, follow the restaurant signs to “Block C,” close to the Amphitheater."

The place is very quiet and nicely lit, using the word nestled was so accurate. when I went, it was alot of kids running around, family gatherings and friends catchup.

I really like the intimate settings. It is also quite a big space with many tables inside as well as outdoor settings.

Cute.

The head chef is from the Tuscany region and thus, the food is heavily influenced by the amazing Italian cities of Florence and Siena. This place is famous for their Florentine Steak. Huge portions though!

Complimentary soup before we start dinner. A fish soup for that evening...

I needed to order that because well, I missed it. Cold cuts are definitely the one thing I am very in love with. This plate from La Barca has of course very generous helping. But the bruschetta were too bland and soft.

Hand cut potato wedges with rosemary and thyme. Piping hot and crunchy on the outside.

The breaded grilled prawns were quite alright but I wouldnt have ordered it given the many other yummy options. And besides, I really wanted Italian food.

The lamb ragout pici - pasta cooked to perfection, smells and tastes like Italy. something I sorely missed and am glad to have finally found outside of my favourite country in the world. I mean it when I say perfect Italian version because it is al dente and nothing like what most Singaporeans are accustomed to.

Amazing cheesy and truffle ravioli, very soft and tender pasta skin and the cheese baked to just right kind of pull.

We also ordered the hand-pulled pork version of ragout pici. Very similar I should say in terms of flavour but the pork one was softer and more minced.

Very filling dinner and so fulfilled and satisfied after it. But nothing is complete without dessert...

The restaurant also offered complimentary petit fours at every table. I am loving this amazing service!

Very sweet semifreddo. And each flavour was distinctive in each bite.

And I got the warm chocolate tart which came as described and amazing. Its not too chocolatey and the tart is crumbly with a soft middle. Perfect end.

I was so stuffed by the end of it and loved chatting to the head chef at the end of it. And I really meant it when I said everything was good and the pasta was perfect.

Definitely a must go, and daddy has to be prepared to be taking me there more often now.

mayyn meal - Taro Taro

a good friend Marsha will be heading to Taiwan next year and just asked me whats good there for food. honestly i had to think for quite awhile...

but in Perth if I needed to satisfy any Taipei cravings, its a short five minutes drive away from my place to East Victoria Park.

As you can see, Taro Taro is the name of the shop. I went for the first time with Kath for a quick lunch and catch up the other day. They sell a variety of Asian desserts and bubble tea that closely resembles Gong Cha in Singapore.

They also have savoury snacks like XXL Chicken Chop, Oyster Mee Sua and all that typical Taiwanese street food. And Kath had the braised minced meat rice while I had the handmade noodles with herbal tea egg.

I found it quite reasonable, taste-wise. Could have been stronger in the braised taste though but the minced meat were too finely minced.

If I wanted a quick lunch or in dire need of a Taiwanese snack, it is THE place to go to. because it probably is the only place...

so it was amazing weather today and i decided to head down to the beach to enjoy that. catch a few rays and waves,

im so blessed to be able to enjoy this in my life. im truly a beach bum at heart.

mayyn meal - supper at Lorong 29 Geylang

its 11pm and officially time for supper. something i always indulged in when i was a kid but very much less so as years gone by and weight is such an issue.

however, everytime im back home in singapore there is one place i cannot resist once in a while.

The coffeeshop at Geylang Lorong 29. Sure brings back fond childhood memories. its been renovated several times now but from way back to the old tvs and charcoal grills. i did like it so much back then. alot of things changed but there is one thing that didnt.

the best Hokkein Mee in town. ever. and copied by so many others but only in name. and they even got the name wrong. the original name is as pictured. and not Lorong 29 Hokkein Mee like the one in east coast claimed to be.

Really had that strong charcoal grill smell, soft noodles with that smokey flavour. fresh prawns, yummy chilli. ohhh what i would give to have that now.

While other stalls often pale in comparison to my favourite, the orh luak is not too bad and the duck rice is definitely worth giving it a go. the satay has since slipped in standards so i never really go for thay anymore.

Im just glad this place remains authentically Singaporean and not overrun by mainland chinese workers.

mayyn meal - Jin Shan

Ahh, I think during the last weekend of me being back in SG, Dad took us and grandma for one of my favourite places to dimsum.

Another Chinese restaurant in Marina Bay Sands but this time in the hotel building. And I actually like this place.

Fresh ingredients and very supple skin.

Crispy skins... 'nuff said.

Beijing Duck, its been a while. I am not really the biggest fan of it but I do like the idea of rolling it myself with however much cucumber and spring onions I want.

Cute looking eh! But it aint anything to do with carrots. Its a sweet bean paste in it.

Bird's nest egg tart...Crispy but I prefer the one at Feng Shui Inn.

And of course my favourite dimsum ever. While it doesnt look as fancy as other restaurants, it tastes better than most. The bun is soft and fluffy and slightly milky with a sweet salty perfect filling.

What better way to end the meal.

mayy's ootd

Well one reason why I decided to come back to Perth this early on in november was because I knew I could not miss Jodie's birthday thing. My 2012 wouldnt have been the same without her.

So for her birthday party, I wore my blue gradient bodycon toga dress from Trapeze at Subiaco for the first time. Matched it with the Aldo printed pumps and gold Valleygirl clutch. Simple gold accessories finished the look.

The photo is a bit dark because with all the drinking going on, taking photos is the least of one's concern. I took my blue eyeliner out for its first spin though. It was interesting and am looking forward to using more of it soon.

after all, the holidays season is upon us and I cannot wait for the parties.

Time for a Shoestopper!

And you would have noticed that the numbering has stopped. December is time to make the year better, and pace yourself for the new year and the new resolutions you might have had. I usually start early so it is not so much of a shock come the new year for the new ways of life.

Anyhow, speaking of shock...

My pretty new flats from the recent trip to Bangkok. With a hint of the gold tips.

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com

The flats are abit slippery on the soles side. And abit hard all round. But I liked the colour too much and hoping for it to eventually be broken into.

Mum thinks the neon pink is a bit too much. But hey, alot of days especially colder seasons Im nearly always in all black. and this is a nice way to break it up. Dont you think?

mayyn meal - Ginza Kuroson

It was quite the food trip that month back home. My meet up with a girlfriend took me to Robertson Quay for dinner. It took us a while to decide as we walked the length of it. Also, because a lot of the places were full house.

Finally decided on Japanese, and one in between two delicious smelling italian restaurants.

Ginza Kuroson.

Private rooms.

The amazing fresh fish and grilling counter

We split the chef choice's sashimi plate. It was fresh and quite yummy.

And the oyster cream risotto was so rich and abit too mushy for me. sounds and looks good. taste-wise, wasn't too awesome for me.

This simple meal costs us around 70 bucks for two pax. splurge much? but yeah, we deserve it.

Ended the night at the wine connection...

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com

she liked this botryllis semillon from Aussie which had abit of honey infused in it. abit too sweet for me. im not much of a girly drinks kinda girl. ;)

mayyn meal - Yu Cuisine MBS

It was my first day back after a really long break away from family. and it was a long time since the four of us were back together properly at home.

Nice to go out for dinner and I had such a deep hankering for chinese food. we ended up at Yu Cuisine restaurant at Marina Bay Sands.

Interesting choice of decor for a chinese restaurant.

roast duck and roast pork belly. yummy, juicy and quite good.

salted egg prawns for me. but it wasnt the best Ive had. abit bland.

Photos credits: mayydiaries.blogspot.com

And the greens and winter melons were quite nicely presented.

we also had a fish which was quite alright.

The food was nothing amazing. it was good, normal. but i have higher expectations at a restaurant situated in one of the fancier places around. Otherwise, I just like having dinner w the family.

May try their dimsum during the weekends one of these days. But other than that, there are better chinese restaurants out there.
